The Amazon Fulfillment Technologies (AFT) organization owns the software and infrastructure that powers Amazons world-class fulfillment centers. We build software which interfaces with the robots, machines and human associates at the warehouse and facilitate various processes that run the global network of fulfillment centers moving billions of units of inventory and ensuring customers get what they want, when promised. These systems underlie everything we do tens of millions of items in the catalog, hundreds of millions of units of inventory, and billions of transactions each year!
Key job responsibilities
This role is for the Inbound Automation team which is responsible to build core software components to automate the process of receiving the inventory shipped by various vendors and sellers to the Amazon warehouses. Our software components interfaces with Vision Tunnels and human associates at the Amazon warehouse and work on determining the contents and other attributes of the inbound inventory, initiating Receive and determining its routing in Amazon's global fulfillment network. This automation reduces the inbound cycle times, improves accuracy of receives and saves millions of dollars for the company. We innovate and leverage Machine Learning (ML) and Computer vision (CV) solutions for automation and detection. We are looking for a Software Development Engineer who wants to apply and grow their technical depth and breadth while defining and driving key aspects of Amazon Warehouse Management Systems. About the team
Amazon Fulfillment Technologies (AFT) powers Amazons global fulfillment network. We invent and deliver software, hardware, and data science solutions that orchestrate processes, robots, machines, and people. We harmonize the physical and virtual world so Amazon customers can get what they want, when they want it.
Our team is based out of Bellevue, WA and we support world wide AFT Inbound operations.
AFTs Inbound team delivers innovative solutions to automatically receive and process billions of units of inventory from Amazons vendors and third-party sellers worldwide, making the merchandise quickly available to Amazon customers.
Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
