PIMCO is seeking to hire an experienced Alternatives Consultant Relations professional. The individual will be responsible for guiding and directing PIMCO's alternatives' consultant relationships across global, regional and specialty firms. The role will focus on generating new ratings, translating ratings to investments, and leading ongoing client service of these consultant relationships. The individual will work closely with a wide variety of internal teams, prospects, and clients to drive alternatives sales.
Strategies in PIMCO's $145bn alternatives complex includes diversified direct lending, hybrid credit, asset-based lending, opportunistic private credit, real estate, hedge funds (e.g. macro, long/short Credit, commodity relative value) and quantitative systematic strategies (e.g. alt risk premia, trend following).
The Alternatives Consultant Specialist will be part of PIMCO's Consultant Relations team. The role is to be based in New York City, NY.
This position requires a dynamic, commercial, and collaborative professional. The successful candidate will:Engage with global, regional and specialty consulting firms to maintain current ratings/endorsements and win additional endorsements/ratings.Have a proven history of generating consultant approvals for alternatives strategies and translating those approvals into commitments.Demonstrated ability to drive sales to establish and develop strong relationships with research and field professionals at consultant firmsDevelop extensive knowledge of the alternatives investment landscape and successfully position PIMCO's platform with consultantsFollow and communicate alternative industry and consultant trends and developmentsPlan and prioritize investment professional roadshows based on consultant demand and product relevance/readinessDemonstrate the ability to earn the trust and credibility of fellow Account Managers, Portfolio Managers, Product Strategists and other PIMCO professionals and to collaborate effectively.Ideal experience :
5-10+ years of consultant relations experience across alternativesCandidates with a specific background selling:
Corporate strategies (stressed/distressed, corporate lending, mezzanine, etc.)Asset based lending and structured credit strategiesAlternative risk premia strategies
Education
An advanced degree such as an MBA is preferred for this role though candidates with a CFA or CAIA designation will also be considered.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Alternatives Consultant Specialist will be responsible for driving new consultant approvals, collaborating with PIMCO stakeholders to translate these approvals into investments, and maintaining existing ratings for PIMCO's alternative investment strategies.
Develop and execute a business plan in conjunction with Consultant Relations team to drive sales growth in PIMCO's alternative investment strategiesLead alternatives engagement with consulting firms (traditional and specialty)In partnership with account managers and product strategists, work with consultants to assess investment needs of institutional investors and recommend suitable solutions.Contribute to efforts to promote PIMCO alternatives through conferences, events and other branding strategies.COMPETENCIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS

This position is based in PIMCO's New York City, NY office. The role requires extensive travel throughout the United States. The standard workday varies greatly, based on business and client requirements.
PIMCO follows a total compensation approach when rewarding employees which includes a base salary and a discretionary bonus. Base salary is the fixed component of compensation that is determined by core job responsibilities, relevant experience, internal level, and market factors. The discretionary bonus is used to award performance and therefore is determined by company, business, team, and individual performance.
Salary Range: $ 215,000.00 - $ 285,000.00
