This role requires a thorough understanding of Native American communities and excellent legal skills.Duties:Conduct legal research and analysis on federal laws affecting Native American tribes.Draft and review agreements related to intergovernmental negotiations, Indian healthcare clinic operations, leasing, land use, gaming, hospitality, tribal employment matters, and legislative documents.Advise clients on compliance issues and strategic legal matters about Native American law.Represent clients in negotiations, hearings, and other legal proceedings related to Native American law matters.Collaborate with senior attorneys and partners on complex legal issues and case strategies.Requirements:Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.Admission to the California Bar and Arizona Bar.3-5 years of relevant legal experience focused on Native American law and federal Indian law.Strong academic credentials from undergraduate and law school.Proven experience working with Native American communities and tribal governments.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Exceptional research, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Preferred Skills:Experience in drafting legislation, ordinances, and other regulatory documents.Knowledge of federal regulations impacting Native American tribes.Familiarity with Indian healthcare laws, gaming regulations, and tribal sovereignty issues.The position is based in San Diego, CA.Occasional travel may be required for client meetings, hearings, or tribal consultations.
