DescriptionThe RN ll - Lactation Consultant will be responsible for assessment, planning, education and discharge planning for lactation counseling. They act as a resource for staff to promote quality nursing care through advocacy, research and education.All nursing practice is based on the legal scope of practice, national and specialty nursing standards, CNMC Policies and Procedures, and in accordance with all the applicable laws and regulations. The Professional Model of Care requires registered professional nurses to be responsible and accountable for their own practice. CNMC supports the development of the RN relationships within the community; specifically those relationships associated with the health and well being of the community at large.QualificationsMinimum Education:Bachelor's Degree (Required)Minimum Work Experience:1 year of experience in a setting that includes Lactation Support (Required)1 year Experience as a lactation consultant (Required), 3 years PreferredRequired Licenses and Certifications:Registered Nurse (Required) IBCLC (Required)Required Skills/Knowledge:Must successfully complete hospital and nursing orientation at CNHFunctional AccountabilitiesProfessional Practice and Research:Participate in/Support Shared Nursing LeadershipContribute to CNH's Magnet JourneyAccountable to support/participate in the Division of Nursing's Performance Improvement ProcessParticipate in community activitiesEducation:Maintain knowledge of lactation procedures and necessary equipmentDevelop and manage lactation education and support programsEnsure lactation education and guidelines are based on evidence of best practiceProvide lactation education to CNH staff membersSupport lactation efforts of CNH employeesProvide resources for parent and staff education and evaluate effectiveness on a continual basisNursing Process:Perform assessments of lactation concerns/issues with inpatient familiesAccountable to implement strategy for the advancement of successful lactationDocument individual assessments, teaching, and plan of care in medical recordResponsible for oversight of family lactation areasCommunication:Communicate lactation counseling follow-up with interdisciplinary teamAttend interdisciplinary rounds and contribute to plan of careServe as a consumer advocate for patient/family concernsMaintain patient confidentiality at all timesLeadership:Adapt to change in a professional mannerModel clinical leadership in a team environmentMaintain positive demeanor and productive work ethicOrganizational Accountabilities:Organizational Commitment/IdentificationTeamwork/CommunicationPerformance Improvement/Problem-solvingCost Management/Financial ResponsibilitySafetyPrimary Location:
