Job Title: Assembler
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Assembler to join our team in Lafayette, Indiana. This role involves the assembly of large diesel and natural gas engines, utilizing a variety of hand and power tools, gauges and measuring devices, specialized torque equipment, electrical testing equipment, fork trucks, and lifting devices/cranes. The successful candidate will be manipulating engine components during the assembly process and learning the technical aspects of engine assembly, including troubleshooting and repair of in-process engines.
Responsibilities
Assemble large diesel and natural gas engines using hand and power tools.
Utilize gauges, measuring devices, specialized torque equipment, and electrical testing equipment.
Operate fork trucks and lifting devices/cranes.
Support safety, quality, and production goals.
Read and interpret standard work in computer programs, engineering prints, and factory paperwork.
Use computer skills for various applications related to assembly tasks.
Essential Skills
Proficiency with hand and power tools.
Ability to read and interpret engineering prints and factory paperwork.
Strong attention to detail as engines and transmissions are customized based on the customer's needs.
Strong technical learning abilities.
Commitment to safety and quality standards.
Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
1-2 years of experience in a heavy production environment or similar.
1-2 years of experience using hand or power tools.
1-2 years of experience following written work instructions, SOPs, and blueprints.
Ability to pass written and hands-on assessments during the training period.
Experience in industries such as automotive, diesel technician, lube technician, tire shop, farming, construction, maintenance, and facilities.

Work Environment

Safety is our highest priority, and PPE is non-negotiable, including steel or composite toe shoes, earplugs, and protective glasses, which are provided. Work shifts include 1st Shift (6:30 AM - 2:30 PM), 2nd Shift (2:30 PM - 10:30 PM), 3rd Shift (10:30 PM - 6:30 AM), 1st AWS (6 AM - 6 PM, F, Sa, Sun), and 3rd AWS (6 PM - 6 AM, F, Sat, Sun).
