Nov 11 2024The Data and Predictive Sciences (DaPS) department of Research Technologies is focused on harnessing the power of GSK’s data-as-an-asset to drive research productivity and unlock upper quartile ambitions.As an Investigator in Data Sciences aligned to Molecular Modalities & Pre-clinical Sciences, you will collaborate with scientists to develop and deliver consistent high-quality, high-impact industry-leading data sciences solutions ready for industrialization.Data & Predictive Sciences will only be successful by working in close collaboration with Research Tech, Therapeutic Areas, Scientific Digital & Tech, Onyx Research Data Platform, AIML, Risk & Compliance, and across lines within the function itself. We offer a competitive salary, an annual bonus based on company performance, healthcare and wellbeing programmes, pension plan membership, and shares and savings programme.We embrace modern work practices; our Performance with Choice programme offers a hybrid working model, empowering you to find the optimal balance between remote and in-office work.In this role you will:Deliver data solutions with measurable cross-organizational impact and value, including but not limited to: code libraries, analytical pipelines, data processing pipelines, visualizations, front-end tools, etc.Design and build solutions that leverage existing or planned cloud infrastructure from partner functions in Scientific Digital & Tech and GSK's Onyx Research Data Platform.Partner with Bioimaging Analytics to conceptualize and lead state-of-the-art interactive data visualization in the Imaging Decision, Exploration and Augmentation suite.Enable facile data collation, preparation, and storage, perform exploratory data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies in the data and communicate findings.Manage your projects using basic project management and appropriate communications.Contribute to the overall Data & Predictive Sciences goals and objectives via implementation of relevant components of those objectives.Collaborate with research scientists and stakeholders to understand data needs and deliver appropriate solutions.Demonstrate a strong commitment to teamwork and partnership with all stakeholder functions.Work with other data scientists to build an understanding of the business context, systems, environment, strategy and people aligned to this area.Be a standard bearer for proper ways of working, engineering discipline, process improvement, etc. for the entire Research Tech organization.Work across Data Sciences teams to contribute to peer review, quality, consistency and enterprise thinking.Seek and be responsive to peer feedback to grow your skills and impact.Continuously improve your skills and knowledge to keep abreast of advancements in this rapidly evolving field.Basic Qualifications & Skills:PhD (or extensive years professional experience with a Masters) in bioinformatics or a relevant scientific domain.Proficiency in one or more programming languages: e.g. Python (preferred), R, Java, SQL including toolchains for documentation, testing and operations.Strong knowledge and experience with statistical methods and machine learning techniques applied to high-dimensional data.Experience in using image analysis tools like ImageJ, CellProfiler, 10X Space Ranger and Loupe Browser.Scientific knowledge and/or acumen to understand GSK's biological research data.Experience translating complex multi-dimensional data into biological understanding.Experience building bioinformatics pipelines and databases with large scale biological data.Preferred Qualifications & Skills:Strong experience with image processing and analysis techniques, particularly for analysing histological images or spatial data.Experience with bioinformatics tools and packages (e.g., Seurat, Scanpy, SpatialIDE, Giotto) for analysing transcriptomics data.Architect and implement computational solutions that can be scalable on cloud-based infrastructures including Azure and Google Cloud ecosystem.Familiarity and/or experience with concepts related to Data Fabric, Data Mesh, and Data as an asset.Knowledgeable in the art of data visualization, business dashboarding, and UI/UX.Experience with modern software development tools / ways of working (e.g. Object-Oriented Programming, git/GitHub, DevOps tools, CI/CD).Closing Date for Applications – 25/11/2024At GSK, we have bold ambitions for patients, aiming to positively impact the health of 2.5 billion people over the next 10 years.
