The Patent Agent II will be responsible for various aspects of patent research, application preparation, prosecution activities, and client support, leveraging a strong scientific background.Job Overview:Assist with patent research, application drafting, and submission to the USPTO and foreign patent offices.Provide direct client support throughout the patent process and manage patent portfolios with minimal attorney oversight.Review and respond to communications from the USPTO and foreign patent offices.Provide substantive support for patent enforcement, licensing, and business transactions.Draft, prepare, and submit patent applications to the USPTO with limited attorney supervision.Review and respond to communications from the USPTO and foreign patent offices with moderate attorney review.Engage in independent client interaction and provide guidance and training to IP support professionals.Assist with the preparation of patentability, validity, freedom to operate, and infringement opinions.Conduct literature and patent searching on internet databases.Assist attorneys with complex research and analysis related to patent matters.Perform other duties as assigned.Requirements:Passed Patent Bar Exam and registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.Advanced scientific degree (M.S., Ph.D.) or Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline with relevant experience.4-7 years of patent agent experience.In-depth understanding of patentability requirements and procedures.Familiarity with leading cases affecting patent law and patent litigation.Detailed knowledge of all stages of the patent lifecycle.Ability to conduct and evaluate complex patent and literature searches effectively.Education:Advanced scientific degree (M.S., Ph.D.) or Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline.Certifications:Passed Patent Bar Exam and registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.Skills:Strong scientific background.Ability to draft complex patent applications and responses to official actions.Experience in developing and managing patent portfolios.Proficiency in conducting patent and literature searches.Ability to work independently and with minimal attorney oversight.
