Role OverviewInviting applications for the role of Principal Consultant, SRE. In this role, you will be responsible for coding, testing, and delivering high-quality deliverables and should be willing to learn new technologies.
Responsibilities
The candidate will be working within a cross squad role (2 squads locally in Glasgow), looking to support existing applications and help build out improvements to these and new applications being developed currently.
The ideal candidate will be looking for a role which primarily involves providing first line support from the Development team for live Production Applications (SRE).
This will involve becoming deeply involved in understanding the existing and new systems, the domain, and the challenges in data quality/processing which may be faced in these systems.
In addition to providing front line support, there will be plenty of capacity given to this individual to explore areas of the DevOps pipelines to improve our ability to monitor, support, and observe production.
This individual will also be closely integrated with the firms Hygiene programmes and their impact on the squads, either directly providing Development input or by proposing plans and remediation analysis.
Finally, there will be room for growth for the individual to take on some dev-based tasks depending on skillsets and interests in the different books of work in the squad.
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications
BE/B Tech/MCA
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications/Skills
Strong understanding of SQL / Database platforms (Sybase)
Scripting (Python / KSH) experience
Unix experience
Observability Knowledge (Grafana, Splunk, Loki etc)
Apache Airflow / Autosys Orchestration Exposure
Working knowledge of containerisation
Knowledge of distributed compute
Working knowledge of modern languages – Java / Scala
CompensationThe approximate annual base compensation range for this position is $60,000 to $75,000. The actual offer, reflecting the total compensation package plus benefits, will be determined by a number of factors which include but are not limited to the applicant’s experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities; geographic location; and internal equity.
