We are seeking a
Locums Gastroenterologist Physician
to provide 24-hour call coverage in Belleville, IL. The position follows a 14-on/14-off schedule, with each on-call day requiring 8 hours of patient contact. During the shifts, the physician will manage a variety of gastroenterology procedures, both diagnostic and therapeutic.
Key responsibilities include performing upper GI endoscopy with biopsy, foreign body removal, fulguration of bleeder (cautery), banding of varices, diagnostic and therapeutic ERCP, and PEG placement. Additionally, the physician will conduct esophageal dilatation, small bowel biopsy, lower GI endoscopy, sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy, and manage the insertion of Sengstaken/Blakemore tubes.
The required procedures for this role are comprehensive, including both upper and lower GI procedures. For upper GI endoscopy, the physician will handle diagnostic and therapeutic cases, biopsies, foreign body removal, cauterizing bleeders, banding varices, performing ERCP, and placing PEG tubes. Lower GI procedures include sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy, and esophageal dilatation. The management of Sengstaken/Blakemore tubes is also essential.
Requirements:
ACLS and BLS certification.
Board Certification in Gastroenterology.
Active Illinois medical license.
