Job Description:
Responsible for developing, applying and enhancing credit risk oversight processes in support of and under the oversight of the overall Corporate Risk Management framework and system. Responsibilities will include but not limited to evaluating and monitoring of consumer credit risk appetite, tolerance and thresholds; defining the process for monitoring the performance of the consumer credit portfolio and performing regular reviews of credit risk strategies and asset quality, while using trade-offs among key business metrics such as credit losses, receivables, and profit; delivering effective presentations of credit and asset quality review results, findings and recommendations to multiple levels of leaderships. Actively manages and escalates risk and customer-impacting issues within the day-to-day role to management.
Responsibilities
Leads and executes CCOR Reviews based on CCOR’s annual plan. Responsibilities include providing thought leadership & strategic thinking in developing review scope and work plan; coordinating with business partners to get data/information; determining appropriate approach to ensure a comprehensive and accurate view in assessing credit performance and asset quality; identifying data attributes, independently coding, and interpreting the analysis results by leveraging techniques such as segmentation, and advanced analytics; reviewing the credit risk strategies for its alignment with the company’s credit risk appetite and credit policy, and identifying shortfalls in credit strategies by effectively challenging the assumptions used to develop credit strategies; and delivering effective presentations of CCOR Review results, findings and recommendations to multiple levels of leaderships.
On a regular basis, independently reviews, assesses, and monitors the credit quality of Discover loan portfolios (Card, DPL, DSL, and DHL). Responsibilities include designing and enhancing monitoring metrics; generating monitoring reports and summaries; and establishing early warning indicators to identify shifting portfolio trend.
Conducts effective challenge on credit strategies and the credit management governance framework, new initiatives, risk appetite/key risk indicator framework and thresholds, and loan classification criteria. Continuously monitors and validates risk appetite and key risk indictors.
Performs ad hoc credit risk/asset quality analysis. Delivers effective presentation of findings and recommendations to multiple levels of leadership, creating visual displays of quantitative information.
Minimum Qualifications
At a minimum, here’s what we need from you:
Master's degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, or Engineering.
4+ years of experience in Statistics, Economics, Engineering, or other quantitative discipline, equivalent internship or research experience
In lieu of a master’s degree, 6+ years of experience in Mathematics, Economics, Engineering, or any related field with relevant modeling/analytical experience, including a bachelor’s degree.
Preferred Qualifications

Ph.D. in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, or Engineering.

The base pay for this position generally ranges between $88,500.00 to $149,300.00. Additional incentives may be provided as part of a market competitive total compensation package.
