WE BELIEVE IN THE TRANSFORMATIONAL POWER OF COMFORTJob Summary:Ensures regulatory compliance for customs related matters. Advises management on trade compliance regulations, initiatives, objectives, and associated risks. Audits internal control procedures and internal and external processes.
Job Description:KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Manage the US customs broker relationship at assigned ports of entry, including US, Mexico, and Canada border crossings.Analyze the BOMs at manufacturing locations outside the US for USMCA eligibility and determine the duty accrual amounts for any non-USMCA finished goods.Develop and maintains processes and procedures for US to Mexico/Canada import and export related functions, including development of tools to perform job functions more efficiently (databases, automation, etc.).Audit customs department work instructions for all La-Z-Boy Incorporated divisions and subsidiaries. Ensure that policies are always accurate and up to date.Assist with the annual USMCA solicitation processAnalyze financial data and submit the annual Reconciliation filing to CBP, for the difference between the total entered value and the total cost of production plus profit for related party Maquiladoras.Audit customs entries for accuracy to ensure that all data elements are properly reported to CBP/CBSA. This includes maintenance of post entry logs and compiling monthly duty accrual information.Review and approve weekly customs broker invoices for accuracy, ensuring that all entries have been accounted for in the payment data.Reconcile daily duty payments to US Customs for inbound shipments using statements received from broker and ACE data.Supports customs related special projects.SCOPE & IMPACT:
This position is responsible for ensuring 100% compliance with customs regulations through data analysis. The position includes tasks that will require research, analytical skills, and communication across the entire La-Z-Boy organization. This position is responsible for acting as the first point of contact on US import and export shipments, including auditing roughly 5000 entries per year through an automated system process.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field with 0-2 years of relevant experience or equivalent1 year of experience working for an Exporter/ImporterProficient in the use of Microsoft Office, including Access, Excel, Word and PowerPointGood communication skills, both verbal and written.Problem-solving abilities and a high degree of professionalismIntermediate knowledge of import trade regulations, HTSUS (Harmonized Tariff Schedule US).Ability to travel up to 15%PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
Certified Customs Specialist or Certified Export SpecialistUS Customs Broker LicenseSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
