The Wound Care and Hyperbaric Specialist is responsible for developing and managing a comprehensive wound care program, incorporating hyperbaric oxygen therapy as a key treatment component. This specialist will deliver expert care for patients with complex or chronic wounds and manage wound care services for clinic patients and external referrals. The Wound Care and Hyperbaric Specialist must be proficient in both wound care and hyperbaric medicine, ensuring optimal patient outcomes and guiding program growth to meet the evolving needs of healthcare.Supervisory Responsibilities:Develop, lead, and manage the Wound Care Program, including the training and supervision of clinical staff or support personnel involved in these services.Collaborate with clinic leadership to recruit, mentor, and expand the wound care team.Oversee daily operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and quality benchmarks.Duties/Responsibilities:Program Development:Design and implement a comprehensive wound care program, incorporating advanced technologies and evidence-based protocols.Integrate hyperbaric oxygen therapy into wound care plans, collaborating closely with the Director of the Hyperbaric Program.Identify opportunities to grow the wound care program, including marketing efforts to external providers and communities to increase referrals.Work with physicians, clinic leadership, and other healthcare professionals to ensure alignment with best practices and patient outcomes.Patient Care:Provide specialized wound care, including assessment, treatment, and monitoring of wound healing progress.Develop individualized, evidence-based treatment plans for wound care patients.Administer advanced wound care treatments such as debridement, dressing changes, negative pressure wound therapy, and hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT).Coordinate closely with the hyperbaric team for patient care involving HBOT.Educate patients and families on wound care management, prevention, and self-care practices to promote healing and prevent recurrence.Coordination & Collaboration:Act as the main liaison between the wound care team, hyperbaric team, physicians, and other healthcare providers.Coordinate with external healthcare providers and hospitals to manage referrals and ensure timely patient care.Collaborate with other specialists to ensure a multidisciplinary approach to complex wound management.Documentation & Compliance:Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient care, treatment plans, and outcomes in the EMR system.Ensure compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards for wound care and hyperbaric therapy.Stay informed on the latest regulatory guidelines and ensure program adherence.Education & Training:Educate and train clinic staff, patients, and caregivers on wound care and hyperbaric medicine principles and advancements.Keep up-to-date with industry advancements and participate in continuing education related to wound care and hyperbaric oxygen therapy.Mentor and train clinical staff as the wound care and hyperbaric program expands.Performs other related duties as assigned.Required Qualifications:Relevant certification in wound care, such as Wound Care Certification (WCC), Certified Wound Specialist (CWS), or Certified Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse (CWOCN) is preferred.Certification in Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (CHT/CHRN) preferred or willingness to obtain certification within a designated timeframe.Experience:Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in wound care, with a proven track record in program management or development.Experience with advanced wound care techniques and technologies.Prior experience in hyperbaric medicine or with hyperbaric oxygen therapy as part of wound care treatment plans is strongly preferred.Leadership or supervisory experience in a clinical setting is a plus.Required Skills/Abilities:Expertise in advanced wound care technologies, therapies, and treatment protocols.Knowledge of hyperbaric oxygen therapy and its application in wound care.Strong leadership abilities to develop and expand a comprehensive wound care and hyperbaric program.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with interdisciplinary teams, patients, and families.Ability to work independently while fostering cross-departmental collaboration.Proficiency in EMR systems and healthcare documentation.Must be able to complete a diving physical satisfactorily.Strong organizational and time-management skills to balance patient care and operational duties.Benefits:
