We are looking for a motivated attorney with 5 to 10 years of labor and employment experience who is interested in taking the next step in their career. In this position, you will serve as key partner to human resources personnel and leaders on employment and labor law matters.As part of the Textron Systems Legal Department, you will be part of a dedicated and diverse team of in-house attorneys and professionals. You will work closely with business stakeholders to mitigate risk, anticipate and favorably resolve employment issues, and help ensure compliance with global, federal and local employment and labor laws. In this position, you will report to Textron System’s Deputy General Counsel and work closely with numerous business leaders and personnel across the Company.As our Assistant General Counsel, you will:
Serve as a trusted legal advisor on labor and employment matters with a high degree of integrity.Provide timely, practical, and business-oriented legal advice on a range of labor and employment issues, including hiring, performance management, employee relations, personnel policies and handbooks, leaves of absence and accommodations, discrimination and harassment, wage and hour, internal investigations, discipline and termination, compensation, benefits, and privacy.Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and implement a variety of workplace policies, employee training and employment-related templates and agreements.Investigate and respond to claims, demand letters, administrative complaints, audits, and other employment-related inquiries.Represent the Company in investigations and mediations before administrative agencies including the EEOC, DOL, NLRB, and equivalent state bodies.Manage employment related litigation, including responding to attorney demand letters, effectively negotiating resolution of claims, and making recommendations to Human Resources and senior management on corrective action.Critically supervise and manage outside counsel to ensure high-quality, cost-effective service through developing and monitoring budgets and oversight of outside counsel on employment litigation matters.Support the human resources benefits team in review and response to appeals under qualified and non-qualified benefit plans.Conduct/oversee internal audits to support compliance, such as classification reviews and management of leaves of absence.Collaborate with local outside counsel to advise Human Resources and management on international employment issues.Advise and assist Human Resources and management to ensure compliance with U.S. federal executive orders, Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) regulations, the Service Contract Act, and other Government Contract related obligations.Work collaboratively with other Legal Department attorneys and teams as needed.The education and experience required for success in this role include:
J.D. and membership in good standing with a U.S. State bar.5-10 years of legal experience involving labor and/or employment matters while working in a law firm or corporate legal department.Familiarity with employment laws and related regulations, including Title VII discrimination laws, ADA, ADEA/OWBPA, FMLA, FLSA, WARN Act, USERRA, NLRA, SCA, etc. Familiarity with federal and international privacy law.Expertise in labor arbitrations, labor board proceedings, and collective bargaining.Knowledge of global anti-corruption and privacy laws, including particularly the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, GDPR, and equivalent laws preferred.Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and equivalent laws preferred.Experience working within the aerospace and defense industry or with government contractors preferred.The skills you will need to bring to the role:
