The ideal candidate will work closely with inventors, engineers, and clients to secure patents for cutting-edge technologies while providing strategic intellectual property guidance. Duties
Draft and prosecute patent applications with relevant patent officesPrepare detailed invention descriptions and draft patent claims to outline protection scopeManage patent prosecution timelines, ensuring timely filings and responsesDevelop and implement strategies for building and maintaining patent portfoliosMonitor patents, coordinate renewal, and manage maintenance activitiesRepresent clients in patent disputes, infringement litigation, and opposition proceedingsPrepare legal arguments, motions, and briefs for court or administrative hearingsClearly and effectively communicate complex legal and technical information to clients and colleaguesRequirements
Minimum of 3 years of experience in patent law, focusing on patent prosecutionTechnical background in engineering, computer science, life sciences, or a related fieldExcellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to convey complex legal and technical concepts persuasivelyStrong organizational skills, capable of managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environmentCollaborative mindset with a proven ability to build relationships with clients and colleaguesEducation
Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited institutionCertifications
Registration to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)Licensed to practice law in the state of ColoradoSkills
