Sr. Humanitarian Consultant

This role helps minister to temporal needs, build spiritual and temporal self-reliance, and bless both givers and receivers by providing access to basic needs (food, clothing, shelter, sanitation, education, etc.), helping people become economically, emotionally, and physically self-reliant, and supporting efforts to prepare for and respond to disasters.
This position provides:
Support to assigned area humanitarian efforts by consulting with area specialists during project planning and providing guidance and best practices to improve project outcomes.
Development of technical resources and best practices in the Food Security, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene focus area. This may include cultivating partnerships, technical expertise, conceptualizing and producing digital or written materials for Church-wide distribution, and within the Welfare and Self-Reliance Department.
Support to humanitarian program Monitoring and Evaluation efforts.
Understanding of welfare, self-reliance and humanitarian principles and best practices.
Ability to train and consult with area staff in supporting local-council efforts to:
Identify area and local needs and resources.
Design locally relevant and sustainable interventions to address all causes of need while building family and community self-reliance.
A cultivated technical expertise in a focused domain (Food Security and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene).
Ability to build and foster relationships with a complex set of internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to manage competing priorities and a complex workload.
Ability to build strategic partnerships with thought leaders in the focused domains who have a proven track record of building best practices.
Ability to utilize the MEAL framework to monitor, evaluate, and learn from area efforts in strategically important humanitarian efforts. The Humanitarian Consultant will also support area initiative reporting efforts and work to aggregate these reports to provide global insights into the reach and impact of member-focused efforts.
Strong organizational, written, and oral communication skills. Master’s degree preferred.
