Position SummaryThe Mortgage Assistance Officer is responsible for development and implementation of collection and workout strategies in the facilitation of loan recoveries for the Bank's Mortgage Collection Department. Main duties include initiating telephone calls, producing correspondence, developing workouts, analyzing financial statements, and maintaining accurate records in pursuit of resolution of delinquent loan accounts.The following duties are intended to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities and

Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional duties.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesManage a loan portfolio of serviced and in-house, consumer mortgage loans. Monitor for delinquencies and non-performance.Collect past due payments, set up payment arrangements and maintain positive borrower relationships to be in alignment with the Bank's missions, visions and values.Facilitate contact with customers by telephone, in person, and through written correspondence. Maintain open lines of communication with borrowers after payment is received, allowing for early intervention and preempting future delinquencies.Develop collection and workout strategies for in-house and serviced mortgages by performing analysis of financial statements, collateral inspections, etc.Manage the collection and liquidation process of delinquent mortgages, to include initiation and completion of collateral foreclosure and sale against non-performing borrowers, etc.Facilitate vendor procurement and management as necessary in pursuit of loan recovery resolution and collateral protection.Ensure loan and customer information is represented accurately on the Core system.Train and assist Mortgage Assistance Officers with collection procedures for loans with government guarantees (FHA, VA, USDA, etc.) and loans serviced for government agencies (AHFC, etc.).Prepare purchase packets for loans with government guarantees, following established guidelines.Monitor management of various OREO properties to include utility account management, property preservation, inspections, etc. as necessary.Assist in negotiation of OREO property sales, to include preparation of purchase & sale agreements.Follow Northrim and 3rd party (AHFC, FHA, VA, USDA, etc.) collection procedures, instructions, methods and policies precisely.Complete online, written and in-person compliance training within established timeframes.Participate in development of policies and procedures for collection and repossession.Maintain regular and predictable attendance.Other duties as assigned.
QualificationsEducationBachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or other related field.Equivalent combination of education and work experience directly related to the functions of the position may be considered.Related military education/experience may be used as a substitute for education or work experience.
ExperienceThree years of experience in the areas of consumer collections, commercial collections, loan documentation, commercial lending, consumer lending, and/or commercial law.Knowledge & Communication SkillsKnowledge of Bankruptcy Codes pertaining to Chapters, 7, 11, and 13.Thorough understanding of credit and collection concepts and practices.Real estate documentation and security perfection knowledge.Able to prioritize work, work independently, and communicate effectively with employees, management, customers, and vendors.Must be able to communicate at a high level effectively and professionally with all types of individuals internally and externally in performance of the position responsibilities.Must understand and have the ability to implement applicable compliance requirements.
Analytical & Decision Making SkillsAbility to analyze financial and public records information, legal motions and correspondence, and alternative collection strategies.Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.Complete work assignments without specific instructions and close supervision.Ability to analyze alternative strategies, selects preferred strategies, and successfully acts on them independently with general direction from management.Professional, productive, innovative, and self-motivated.
Computer/Software/Other Equipment SkillsIntermediate knowledge of MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Ability to operate standard office equipment such as PC, printer, fax/copier, and telephone.
