REQUIRED SKILLS / CERTS / EXP:Minimum Years of Experience: 1 yearTraveler Experience: Will accept 1st time travelers.Locals Accepted / Rate Difference: YesSkills: Administer chemo. Experience in an inpatient setting is required, Med/Surg, Colostomy care, Accessing Ports, Blood Product Administration, Central line blood draw, Peripheral Line Care/Management, PICC line management, Heparin, Insulin, Chemotherapy Administration, Monitoring Chemotherapy, Surgical drains, Chest tubes-Emerson/Pleur-evac, Nasal Cannula, Non-invasive airway management, Isolation Precautions, Wound Care/Wound VacCerts: Chemotherapy administration certification is required prior to start; required to obtain prior to start. Will accept travelers that do not currently have the ONC cert! BLS.
PREFERRED SKILLS / CERTS / EXP: CPI. Charge nurse experience, OCN
JOB DETAILS:
***Primarily Medical Surgical patients with Oncology history and occasional Chemotherapy administration***Target Ratios: 1:6-7Shift:NIGHTS; Unit will accept contracts from 13 weeks+ up to March 15, 2025 (hard stop) to get the unit through the holidays!RTO: 7 days MAX - NO CHRISTMAS RTO; 36 or 48 hours. If 48 then no OT billed until after 48.Call Requirement: Call required if called off on a prescheduled shift.Float Requirement: Floating required to similar units and alternate care locations with inpatients holding, such as inpatient holding in the ED, or any alternate medical patient care location.Weekend Requirement: *EVERY OTHER WEEKEND REQUIRED.
** Contract staff will be assigned and expected to work a Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team. Contract staff may be required to report to work during a catastrophic event, mass casualty or disaster. Consolidation to the Centralized Office mid contract may occur and the contract staff may be preassigned to units as needed
PATIENT DIAGNOSES: General medical-surgical diagnosis primary patient population. Administration of chemotherapy/biotherapy -IV, PO, or injection.
AKI, Sepsis, Cancer, Septic shock, Pain, OD, Malignant Neoplasms, ARF, Encephalopathy, FTT, Diabetic foot ulcers, Heparin drips,
SPECIAL PROCEDURES / UNIT DETAILS: Daily Census 42.During times of increased census, typical ratios may be higher.
Contract staff will be assigned equally to the home unit staff to ensure that patients are covered with a registered nurse
Contract staff will be assigned and expected to work a Storm Team and/or Hurricane TeamContract staff may be required to report to work during a catastrophic event, mass casualty, or disaster
Contract staff may be preassigned to units as needed
Like units includes floating to inpatient holding in the ED, or any alternate medical patient care location.
Shifts called out will need to have make up shifts rescheduled.
Attendance to monthly staff meetings.
UNIT SYSTEMS (Medication, Documentation, Communication): PYXIS, EPIC, SBAR.
UNIT ORIENTATION: 24 hrs (2 shifts)
SCRUBS: Navy Blue and white.
