Zurich North America is hiring a Director of Accounting Policy to join our team! We are open to hiring talent in our Schaumburg, IL location.The ZNA Accounting Policy team is responsible for maintaining and applying accounting policy and working through unique technical accounting questions across the North America business. Zurich reports Group results under International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), but also reports under US Statutory (SSAP) with some US GAAP reporting as well.You will be joining a dynamic high performing team that gives you great opportunities to make an impact, learn, grow and be purpose driven.QualificationsStrong communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, including senior leadershipStrong technical accounting background and experience with proficiency in IFRS, US Statutory, and US GAAPExcellent critical thinking and analytical skills to translate complex accounting guidance into clear actionDetail-oriented, proactive, and able to meet deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced work environmentMinimum 7 years of previous experience in a similar role working in Insurance industry and/or public accountingDegree in Accounting with CPA highly preferredKey AccountabilitiesResponsible to the ZNA VP Head of Accounting Policy to support technical accounting matters, e.g. IFRS and US Statutory reporting, M&A activities, lease accountingProactively seek operational and internal control improvements in the financial accounting and reporting teamExtended Hours during Peak Periods, as requiredPass Applicable Exam/Licensing, as requiredRegular Predictable AttendanceBusiness Travel, as requiredPerformance Management AccountabilitiesModel behaviors that demonstrate commitment to corporate values.Provide input into performance management discussions of project team members.Coach and provide technical advice and counsel within and outside operating unit.Provide guidance and support for team members.Take action to manage own personal development and encourage others to do the same.Basic Qualifications:Bachelors Degree and 7 or more years of experience in the Accounting or Finance areaORHigh School Diploma or Equivalent and 9 or more years of experience in the Accounting or Finance areaORZurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 7 or more years of experience in the Accounting or Finance areaANDExperience with technical accounting principlesExperience in implementations of complex accounting solutions
