Essential Job Functions
Interact professionally and effectively through verbal and written communication with all professional contacts with emphasis on company interestsPrioritize and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframesTravel to work with vendors, manufacturers and to attend appropriate industry trade shows.Effectively analyze data to determine the appropriate course of actions.Participate in the development/refinement, implementation and management of the Petco global sourcing strategy for assigned categories.Assume role of project manager for new product development within assigned categories.Continually identify, assess, and recommend new suppliers.Analyze bids and other data, and propose actionable recommendations.Conduct or participate in the negotiation with suppliers.Collaborate with Private Brand cross-functional team to optimize sourcing effectiveness.Research and analyze cost, capacity and delivery history of manufacturers; ensure manufacturers can deliver product that meets the specifications and quality of the brand image.Continually search for and identify opportunities for cost optimization and margin enhancement throughout the supply chain.Identify and communicate issues to appropriate parties and bring them to resolution.Manage the on-going vendors performance including, Service, Quality & CostMonitor the cost & availability trends of key cost factors and recommend course of actions (raw & packaging materials, labor, crude oil, etc.)Perform other related, tasks and responsibilities as required, assigned and directed.Required Skills and Qualifications
Normally requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent, preferably in , and a minimum of 2-3 years experience in global sourcing including experience in manufacturing processes, quality control and national chain or specialty chain retailers.Must be able to demonstrate an working knowledge of import/export marketing and manufacturing relationships, including quality control/testing processes and programs and logistics.Excellent interpersonal communication skills are also required.Additionally, this position requires a demonstrated, advanced level of knowledge and competency in the following areas with the ability to:Accomplish goals through partnerships built on mutual trust, fairness, integrity and honesty.Partner and negotiate effectively with vendors, suppliers, regulatory agencies and internal Petco associatesUnderstand and communicate with a diverse set of leaders and associates at various levels and within various functional areasManage multiple responsibilities with the talent to shift center of focus from one task to another with minimal challenge.Champion change efforts through effective influence team membersBusiness acumen and analytical skills necessaryAdvanced computer skills are required including MS Office Suite and the ability to learn and utilize internal applications.
