Your Role and ResponsibilitiesEarliest start date for this position is in January 2025, but will continue with start dates throughout 2025. IBM has openings for Hardware Development Engineers to develop, test and provide customer support for hardware, firmware and semiconductors that make up our industry leading IBM products. We are an elite team of engineering professionals that pioneer innovations for the cutting-edge microprocessors and hardware used in IBM infrastructure including IBM zSystems, IBM Power Systems, IBM Storage, and IBM Quantum Systems. Development engineers participate in various aspects of the development, test, and support process such as but not limited to:Physical design and layoutElectronic design automationSignal integrity, power integrity, and analysisMicroelectronics packagingMaterials analysis and characterizationMechanical design and technology integrationPrinted circuit board physical design and layoutThermal design and testingVoltage regulation and power deliveryPerformance modelingProcessor and system test and validationProcessor, component, and system characterizationCustomer and field engineering supportFirmware architecture, development, and testFailure analysisIdeal candidates will possess demonstrated design, test, and communication skills. Interdisciplinary and other team-based experience in hardware design, including but not limited to high level design roadmaps, outlining requirements, verification, analysis, and testing is a plus. Candidates with at least three to six months of team-based work experience with hardware products, basic knowledge or experience with programming languages such as Python, Javascript, or C++, are preferred but these are not required.Candidates chosen to become a part of our world class development teams will help advance IBM’s leadership to develop the highest performing computers and game changing hardware solutions.
