Position Overview
PIMCO is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Officer, Counsel - Legal Funds to join our dynamic legal team. In this pivotal role, you will collaborate with a team of attorneys and paralegals to provide comprehensive legal support for PIMCO's U.S. registered funds, including open-end funds, closed-end funds, exchange-traded funds (ETFs), and collective investment trusts. Your expertise will be essential in reviewing and negotiating a variety of agreements, such as intermediary agreements, fund participation agreements, ETF authorized participant agreements, and contracts with fund service providers.
As a key legal advisor, you will offer ongoing counsel to various internal stakeholders, including the Funds Business Group, Compliance, Global Wealth Management, Account Management, and Product Strategy. You will also play a critical role in preparing and reviewing materials for board meetings and managing other legal and regulatory matters that arise.
Key Responsibilities
Provide expert legal support for PIMCO's U.S. registered funds and collective investment trusts.
Review, negotiate, and draft a wide range of agreements related to fund operations and service providers.
Deliver strategic legal advice to internal teams, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Assist in the preparation and review of board meeting materials, ensuring clarity and compliance.
Address and manage various legal and regulatory issues as they arise, maintaining a proactive approach.
Qualifications & Professional Skills
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from a top-tier law school with outstanding academic credentials.
Approximately 3-10 years of relevant experience in Asset Management at a leading law firm or in-house.
In-depth knowledge of closed-end funds, open-end funds, ETFs, and collective investment trusts.
Active member of the Bar in any U.S. state with proven expertise in securities laws, including the Investment Company Act of 1940 and SEC filings.
Familiarity with the Investment Advisers Act of 1940, the Securities Act of 1933, and ERISA is a plus.
Intelligent, analytical thinker with the ability to quickly assess complex situations and generate innovative solutions.
Strong reputation for integrity and credibility within the organization and investment community.
Independent self-starter with a proactive problem-solving approach.
Exceptional communication and presentation skills, able to articulate clear ideas and strategies to diverse audiences.
Highly organized and self-motivated team player, particularly with senior-level colleagues.
PIMCO follows a total compensation approach when rewarding employees which includes a base salary and a discretionary bonus. Base salary is the fixed component of compensation that is determined by core job responsibilities, relevant experience, internal level, and market factors. The discretionary bonus is used to award performance and therefore is determined by company, business, team, and individual performance.Salary Range: $175,000.00 - $240,000.00
