RELIGIOUS SUMMARY:
Although this position does not require or confer ordination, this is a "ministry position." Only Christians with a demonstrated strong personal faith and agreement with the teaching of Holy Scripture as explained in The Salvation Army "Articles of War" and the "Handbook of Doctrine" will be considered for this position. Maintaining a lifestyle and witness consistent with the above stated documents is required for continued employment.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Family Ministry Coordinator has the responsibility to successfully lead the coordination of Kroc Center Hawaii's Family Ministry and Christian Education Programs for children in an efficient and consistent manner. The Family Ministry Coordinator will have a deep commitment to the mission of The Salvation Army, which will be evident in his or her professional life and the manner in which he or she represents The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center in the community.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Must be a high school graduate and have 3 to 5 years administrative assistant experience in a large church or corporate setting.Must be 21 years of age to drive a TSA vehicle.Ability to effectively understand, reflect and communicate the Christian principles, mission, goals, and strengths of The Salvation Army and The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center.Must live a life of integrity and practice in their own life and model the spiritual principles and behavior they advocate to family members.Ability to coordinate a multiple staff church department.Must have proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite.Ability to coordinate a multiple staff business office.Must be able to keep work area organized, have good time management skills and be able to complete necessary reports in a timely manner.Must have excellent oral and written communication skills and can comfortably speak in public and in small group settings.Demonstrates good judgment, resourcefulness, flexibility, attention to detail, and ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality.Ability to work independently and/or with other staff members in a collaborative team approach.Must be able to recruit, coordinate, and work with a team of volunteers.Must be multi-media savvy and have a good working knowledge of computer programs including Word, Excel, Publisher, and PowerPoint.Retains a valid driver's license to be able to drive Salvation Army vehicles (including a 14-passenger bus) and pass all necessary background checks.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:Experience with planning, implementing, and leading programs at the Corps and Divisional level.Familiarity with traditional Salvation Army programs at the Corps and Divisional level.Familiarity with Hawaii and local culture.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Coordinate all Family Ministry functions under the direction of the Congregational Life Manager (CLM), which includes but is not limited to:Overall leadership of family weekend services, including planning and implementing, promoting attendance, and recruiting and training volunteers and teachers.Assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating Salvation Army corps programs and ministries.Assist with Family programs.Assist with facilitating Family Ministry and Activities.Assist with corps seasonal activities.Special EventsAssist with seasonal activities as directed.Develop relationships with families in the community and in the Corps, encouraging participation in discipling opportunities, Corps youth programs and other ministry events.Coordinate and organize the above-mentioned ministries; ensuring leaders, staff and volunteers have the necessary training, resources, authority, and confidence to have a highly effective and fruitful Family Ministry Department.Provide leadership to the Corps Program Assistant, parents, and church volunteers to ensure ministries to the youth and children, are provided optimally and successfully.Coordinate the family's involvement in ministry and mission projects.Be responsible in collecting & submitting statistical report monthly. Maintain all records and reports as necessary and be involved in setting Policy and Procedure.Assist the Congregational Life Manager in providing opportunities for coordination, encouragement, training, and recognition of all volunteer ministry leaders.Coordinate efforts with existing programs for creative worship participation in the life of Salvation Army worship.Support and assist with annual Christmas Campaigns which will include coordination of Angel Tree ministry, Red Kettle Campaign, and other special fundraising or program events during Christmas Season.Have excellent interaction and phone skills.Compile all necessary statistics for programs on a monthly basis.Prepare and manage the annual budget of the Family Ministry Department.Follow and ensure adherence to The Salvation Army policies and procedures.Assist with program/event transportation as needed.Participate in church retreat, church plant, and/or church vision sessions.Assist the Congregational Life Manager in all duties as needed.Attend various meetings at various times and locations as directed.Interact professionally and work well with other employees, customers, volunteers, and donors while maintaining the standards of The Salvation Army.Maintain a professional attitude and approach to problem solving.

This employee may also be required to work weekends and evenings.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK ENVIRONMENT:Most work will be at the Ray & Joan Kroc Corps Community Center in Kapolei, and in primary and secondary target areas of the Kroc Center located in West Oahu. Extensive travel is possible, including air travel, driving long distances, night driving, and extended travel of three days or more.
NOTES:Must have a valid driver's license and insured transportation.Will require a criminal history information check. Conviction of a crime will not automatically preclude employment. The circumstances involved in the conviction will be considered.
