In this role, you will have the opportunity to provide strategic legal counsel and uphold the highest standards of integrity within ABB. Each day, you will ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and ethical standards. You will also showcase your expertise by effectively managing legal risks and fostering a culture of integrity across the organization.This role is contributing to the Process Automation Process Industries division in Pulp & Paper. You will be mainly accountable for:Act as Business Partner to the Process Automation Process Industries Pulp and Paper Business Line while maintaining an independent position.Develop close working relationships with ABB internal customers including commercial business teams, finance, HR, HSE, and supply chain functions.Develop contract strategy based on customer requirements, ABB policies, and the overall execution strategy considering risk, pricing, scope, and schedule.Draft and negotiate commercial contracts with customers and suppliers for the Process Automation Business, as well as frame agreements on a global level or between multiple Business Areas.Collaborate with other Legal Counsels in the development of contract standards, templates, and guidelines and ensure their implementation and operationalization within Canada.Provide training and guidance to the Process Automation Business.Develop and implement risk mitigation and opportunity plans together with the local Project Manager and/or Sales Manager.Ensure that relevant subcontracts contain contract terms and conditions to protect ABB's interest, including flow-down of main contract terms.Provide general guidance and management of legal issues in respect of competition laws, labor and employment laws, privacy and data protection including GDPR, product liability and warranty claims, and other legal matters that arise within the business in collaboration with other members of the global ABB legal team and internal and external subject matter experts.Support managing contractual claims and advise on the resolution of disputes or litigation through external advisors when necessary.Support our business with other general legal advice and questions related to integrity; may assist in investigation and resolution of integrity issues.Be an active member of the Process Automation North America and global legal team and assist with other legal matters and projects as assigned.Qualifications for the role
Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.Member of a US State Bar with strong common law experience.3-7 years post qualification experience practicing commercial law, either as a private practice associate or as an in-house legal counsel.Strong drafting and negotiation skills and ability to work in a complex international environment.Having experience in a similar industry would be an advantage.Experience with projects related contracts, distribution/partner agreements, intellectual property, and data privacy is highly desired.Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.More about us
