A law firm in Boston, MA, is seeking a Biotech Patent Prosecution Patent Agent to join their Intellectual Property (IP) team. The ideal candidate will hold a Ph.D. in the biological sciences and have substantial experience in patent prosecution, freedom-to-operate analysis, and due diligence. This role involves working with cutting-edge biotechnology, managing patent portfolios, and coordinating with foreign associates.Duties and Responsibilities:Perform patent-related activities, focusing on patent prosecution, freedom-to-operate analysis, and due diligence.Collaborate with clients on innovative biotechnology to secure patent protection and develop IP portfolios.Manage and oversee patent portfolios, coordinating prosecution with foreign associates across various jurisdictions.Draft responses to office actions and prosecute patent applications from inception to approval.Work closely with scientists and inventors to draft comprehensive and effective patent applications.Assess scientific literature, patents, and patent application documents in various biological fields, including immunology, molecular biology, and biochemistry.Conduct patent-landscape and freedom-to-operate searches, and assist with the analysis of findings.Assist investors with IP diligence for potential investments and support IP diligence for biotech initial public offerings (IPOs) and other capital markets transactions.Requirements:Ph.D. in Immunology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related biological sciences.USPTO admission required.2+ years of patent prosecution experience preferred.Experience drafting patent applications from invention disclosure forms and/or inventor interviews with minimal supervision.Ability to present scientific concepts, analyses, reasoning, and conclusions to both scientific and non-scientific audiences.Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.Proven ability to collaborate and work effectively within team settings.Skills:Expertise in patent prosecution, freedom-to-operate analysis, and due diligence in the biotech field.Proficient in drafting patent applications and responses to office actions.Strong analytical skills for assessing scientific literature and conducting patent searches.Ability to present complex scientific and legal concepts clearly.Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Ability to manage competing priorities and collaborate effectively within a team.
