SUMMARY

Under the general guidance of the Engineering Manager, the

Manufacturing Engineer develops and leads the implementation of optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards. Recommends and leads process improvements to production processes, methods, and controls, ensuring project goals are met. Identifies and recommends cost-saving changes to existing products. Coordinates manufacturing launch activities for new & revised products. Priorities include process improvement, product and process documentation, problem resolution, project management and employee training.RESPONSIBILITIES LEVEL I

Collaborate with engineering team on improvements to existing manufacturing processes, including production flow, and assembly methods.Develop and maintain documentation required for manufacturing including drawings, work/assembly instructions, procedures, and routings.Collaborate with quality to ensure inspection procedures, tools and documentation are robust.Design, develop, test and source various tools, fixtures, machinery and equipment for critical manufacturing methods, ensuring that the associated costs are justified.Support Design for Manufacturability (DFM) efforts within new product development and ECO teams.Assist in troubleshooting production issues and implementing corrective actions.Maintain regular and punctual attendance.Comply with all company policies and procedures.Perform other related duties as assigned.RESPONSIBILITIES LEVEL II

Proficient in Level I responsibilities.Lead design and development efforts for smaller scale manufacturing processes, including production flow, and assembly methods.Identify continuous improvement opportunities to eliminate non-value-added process steps and waste.Troubleshoot production issues and implement corrective actions.Responsible for development of Bill of Materials, Bill of Operations, and ongoing ERP maintenance for new and existing products.Support the manufacturing launch of new & revised products including training of operators and evaluating results.Perform product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality, and efficiency improvement.RESPONSIBILITIES LEVEL III

Proficient in Level I and Level II responsibilities.Lead design and development efforts for large scale manufacturing processes, including process improvements, production flow, and assembly methods.Manage the procurement, installation, and validation of manufacturing equipment.Coordinate the manufacturing launch of new & revised products, including establishment of project goals, training of operators and evaluating results.Compile manufacturing cost analysis and reporting of new & revised products.Lead Design for Manufacturability (DFM) efforts within new product development and ECO teams.Identify and execute lean manufacturing goals and strategies for improving the operations and processes within the organization.Identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies.Serve as a role model for production staff including process trainingIdentify and lead key ECO projects.Support Supply Chain team with technical guidance for materials sourcing and outsourcing plans.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent time management skills.Experience in Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, Statistical Process Control.Six Sigma Green or Black Belt preferred.Strong understanding of ERP systems and manufacturing control software.Knowledge of CAD/CAE Engineering tools, specifically SolidWorks.Experience with ISO QMSExperience with automation, controls and programming.Experience using basic hand and shop tools

QUALIFICATIONS

(Education and experience)LEVEL IBachelor of Science Degree with a major field of study in engineering or related technical field.1-3 years of work experience in an Operations/Manufacturing environmentBasic understanding of relevant manufacturing processes and systems.LEVEL IIBachelor of Science Degree with a major field of study in engineering or related technical field; Master’s degree preferred.3-5 years of work experience in an Operations/Manufacturing environmentLEVEL IIIBachelor of Science Degree with a major field of study in engineering or related technical field; Master’s degree preferred.5+ years of work experience in an Operations/Manufacturing environmentProven project management and leadership skills.Extensive knowledge of materials, manufacturing methods and equipment used to produce various manufactured components and soft goods.A combination of training, education, and experience that is equivalent to the qualifications listed above and that provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSWorking conditions are in a normal office and manufacturing floor environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, sit and stand, using the hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. Occasionally, the employee must crouch or kneel. The employee must occasionally exert or lift up to 30 pounds. Successful performance requires good eyesight with or without corrective lens. Requires long periods of time working at a computer.
