Responsible for maintaining the operational and transactional responsibilities of the department. Manages the coordination of day to day activities of a specific business function. Primary emphasis is achieving results by building engagement and empowering their teams. May have exposure for district wide initiatives.
Oversees a team who create all of the major assessment and student outcome reporting, medium-term investigative analyses, and long-term research for the district to inform critical decisions made by key leaders of the district. The Manager sets the analysis plan for every data release, designs the analytic approach for all projects on the medium- and long-term research agenda, and makes key interpretations and recommendations for the District Leadership Team (DLT) and other district leaders to consider based on the data and additional district context. The Manager also regularly presents and facilitates the conversations that DLT has around the data and research, as well as liaises with Colorado Department of Education (CDE) and other internal and external stakeholders.

Lead the district-wide design and release of assessment reports, research projects, presentations, and tools to support district leaders with implementing the strategic use of assessment results and other student and school outcome data. Develops and enacts a plan for medium-length analyses that investigate more deeply outliers and other issues of interest in our reporting data aligned to district priorities. Collaborates with teams across the district to understand data, provide training, and ensure effective systems are in place and aligned at both the department and team level. Facilitates regular data presentations to DLT and other academic leaders and disseminates student outcome reports to leaders from the Cabinet level to teacher level after major assessment administrations. Coordinates across a variety of district teams to provide timely and updated data for each quarterly Data MINE. Sources and lays out the analytic and project plan for the long-term research agendaLeverages relationships with stakeholders to identify district needs and designs projects to meet them. Manages the creation of results output (e.g., reports, spreadsheets, dashboards, etc.) that support users in analyzing and interpreting their data, including the calculation and validation of data going into the School Vitals Dashboard and other portal reportsManage the design and creation of integrated systems and processes that inform ongoing improvements in district tools to support leaders in setting goals and monitoring progressAssigns and prioritizes tasks according to the short- and long-term vision and strategy for reporting, research, and program evaluation. Develop and maintain project plans to track progress on key milestones, reprioritizes work based on evolving stakeholder needs, and identifies and implements efficiency improvements in team processesSupports direct reports in their responsibilities, provides oversight and guidance, and is responsible for their continued professional development and growth. Creates and fosters a cohesive, collaborative, and motivating team cultureDevelops partnerships and liaises with external stakeholders, including CDE, other city agencies, and research groups and universities. Bachelor's Degree in Education or a related area (e.g., sociology, statistics, psychology, economics, policy required.2+ years of experience in data analysis, statistics, research, data visualization, policy analysis, dashboard creation2+ years of people management or supervisory experienceKnowledge of applicable laws and regulationsStrong organizational and analytic skills and strong attention to detailSelf-starter/leader who can anticipate department needs in a proactive (versus, reactive) mannerAbility to develop and interpret data and manage resourcesAbility to motivate and influence othersAbility to effectively lead a teamProficiency with Microsoft Office/Google products including Word, Excel, Outlook, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides.Ability to multi-task and juggle management of several high-priority projects in parallelHigh degree of integrity in handling confidential informationStrong interpersonal and leadership skills, including the ability to lead a high-performing teamExperience in K-12 educationDemonstrated proficiency with statistical analysis coding languages/software (e.g., R, SQL, SAS, SPSS, STATA, Python, etc.)Knowledge and experience with research design, including different statistical methodologies and their appropriate usage
