What is my day to day like?

We are seeking an experienced Plant Manager with a background in pulp and paper manufacturing to oversee the daily operations of our Texas facility. This leadership role oversees 200 employees and counting and is critical in driving operational excellence, ensuring safety, and maintaining the highest quality standards in manufacturing. The Plant Manager will be responsible for leading production and maintenance teams, enhancing machine efficiencies, reducing waste, and implementing preventative maintenance programs. Your day will include but is not limited to:Oversee all aspects of manufacturing operations, including but not limited to Re-Pulping/Delivery, Forming, Coating, scheduling, process engineering, and continuous improvement initiatives.Responsible for all production machinery, including 30+ Forming machines and 6+ Coating machines.Ensure the safe operation of the plant, providing necessary safety training and maintaining up-to-date documentation. Respond to safety audit results and eliminate unsafe conditions.Collaborate with Quality Assurance to meet customer quality, food safety, and audit requirements. Manage internal, external, and supplier-related quality issues, ensuring effective corrective actions and follow-ups.Direct and support production managers and maintenance teams to optimize plant operations, meet production schedules, and maintain appropriate inventory levels.Drive initiatives to enhance key performance indicators (KPIs) including safety, quality, machine efficiency, and waste reduction. Analyze manufacturing data to meet fiscal budgets and operational goals.Review and approve plant purchases while instilling a culture of fiscal responsibility across departments.Work closely with HR to address employee grievances, disciplinary issues, and workforce matters, fostering a positive and productive work environment.Develop and coordinate strategic plans for plant growth and efficiency improvements, collaborating with engineering and other manufacturing leaders.Build relationships with local communities, educational institutions, and government agencies to develop a skilled workforce and resolve plant-related issues.What makes a person successful in this position.

Bachelor's degree from accredited four-year college or university in Engineering, Business, Finance or equivalent, or related discipline experience.Minimum of 10-12 years experience as a proven manager in a manufacturing environment.Minimum 10 years pulp or paper manufacturing experience preferred.Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals and technical procedures. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.Must have working knowledge of equipment design and capabilities, cost issues in order to make daily decisions that will reduce overall costs and help the managers/supervisors find areas that require improvement.Excellent time management skills, employee relation skills including being an active listener, understanding how to appraise personnel, applying both positive and corrective feedback.Must demonstrate positive motivational skills and confidence including providing a consistent leadership style with an acceptable level of assertiveness.Proficient in Microsoft applications, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.Effective oral and communication skills. Ability to clearly communicate thoughts and ideas both verbally and in writing.Ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.Must be able to develop strong teams focused on company goals and objectives.Strong leadership skills, independent thinking, strong organizational and planning abilities and excellent analytical and problem-solving skills are essential.
