What Your Job Will Be Like
We are seeking a driven and results-oriented R&D Statistician for the Statistics & Data Analytics department to perform statistical analysis and methodology development for our highly dedicated and mission focused team. We inform the collection, analysis, and interpretation of data to help Sandia execute its mission. The selected applicant may engage in statistical consulting & collaboration, applied interdisciplinary research, methodological research and development, course instruction, and more.
On any given day, you may be called on to:
Apply existing methods or identify creative solutions to applied problems in the collection and/or analysis of data in an interdisciplinary team.Research and develop novel statistical methods to address emerging statistical challenges in mission-relevant problems.Develop advanced research ideas and craft those into original research proposals.Communicate statistical methods and results in technical writing such as internal reports, conference presentations, or publications.The Sandia job code title for this position is R&D Computer Science.
Due to the nature of the work, the selected applicant must be able to work onsite.
Salary Range
$95,400 - $185,700
*Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications, and application of any approved geographic salary differential.
Qualifications We Require
Master's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, or relevant field plus four (4) years experience or;
PhD in the above listed fields
Experience in R, Python, Matlab, C/C++, Minitab, JMP or other programming languageAbility to acquire and maintain a DOE Q clearanceQualifications We Desire
Experience or interest in:

The Statistics & Data Analytics organization provides innovative statistical solutions to help tackle the most complicated national defense problems. We are leaders in the advancement of statistical techniques for Sandia's Nuclear Deterrence and Global Security mission areas. Our statisticians provide a broad range of capabilities to ensure high quality and timely impacts for mission objectives. Through ongoing collaboration, research, and education, we partner closely with mission teams to inform the collection, analysis, and interpretation of data. Our members have varied expertise across Statistical domains, and foster a cooperative environment to collaborate, share knowledge, and assist each other in producing exceptional work.

If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs.
If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date.
Position Information
This Limited Term Employee (LTE) position is a temporary position for one year term, which may be renewed at Sandia's discretion up to a maximum of seven years.
Individuals in LTE positions may bid on regular Sandia positions as internal candidates, and in some cases may be converted to regular career positions during their term if warranted by ongoing operational needs, continuing availability of funds, and satisfactory job performance.
