The Technical Writer creates various technical documentation, including operator and maintenance manuals, kits, and bulletins for company equipment. This position partners with various stakeholders throughout the company, including engineering, service, and safety teams, to develop content for publication. The Technical Writer then organizes material and completes the first draft of manuals. This role prepares PDFs for final publishing based on feedback from engineering, service, product safety, and editors.

Duties:

Including but not limited to:

Illustrate manual content through 2D and 3D graphical content computer programs, digital photographs, and drawings or diagrams from solid models. Creates models when they are not available.Work with engineering to establish technical specifications and develop content. Review vendor information such as engine manuals and similar model operator manuals (OM)/maintenance manuals (MM) for manual layout and content organization.Organize material and edit content for adaptation to machine models. Complete the writing of the first draft manuals and submit them to engineering, service, and product safety/legal personnel for content review.Generate technical content including operator manuals (OM), maintenance manuals (MM), and field kits using clear concise language. Revise manual content based on markups obtained in the review process and provide a revised copy to the editor for final review. Utilize publishing software to create supporting elements of the manual, such as index and table of contents, and prepare PDFs for final publishing.Work with engineering teams to review the solutions for field issues. Gather information for kit instructions.Illustrate and write kit instructions based on a provided Bill of Materials and brief kit outlines.Manage assigned kits and manual projects from beginning to publishing.Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, and/or similar field.Minimum of 3 years of experience in technical writing and graphic arts; and/or equivalent combination of education and experience required.Project Management experience preferred.Previous mechanical experience preferred. Demonstration of good verbal and excellent written communication skills.Ability to prioritize multiple tasks while effectively managing time and resources.Ability to maintain a customer service approach when working with customers.Ability to maintain positive interpersonal relationships to encourage openness with peers.Proficiency in MS Office required.Experience with Adobe FrameMaker, Illustrator, and Photoshop required.Experience with CAD software required.Experience with both structured and unstructured writing environments preferred.
