Linux System Administrators
to support a classified program for National Geospatial Agency in
Rancho Bernardo, CA.
The team is seeking individuals skilled in developing and maintaining Linux infrastructure technology for a library modernization program.
Clearance: Active TS/SCI Clearance
Location: Rancho Bernardo, CA (hybrid, 2-3x/week)
Responsibilities of the Linux System Administrator:• Build, configure, administer, and troubleshoot Linux servers and user workstation hardware and software; design and implement workgroup-scale networks; build and manage authentication, file-share, and other collaboration servers to support groups of heterogeneous client systems.• Work with cyber security staff to develop and apply hardening steps for systems for classified use to ICD-503 security controls, and other customer standards.• Document system configuration for new and existing systems.• Proactively maintain and develop all Linux infrastructure technology to maintain a 24x7x365 uptime service• Engineering of systems administration-related solutions for various project and operational needs• Fault finding, analysis and of logging information for reporting of performance exceptions• Manage, coordinate, and implement software upgrades, patches, hot fixes on servers, workstations, and network hardware• Create and modify scripts or applications to perform tasks• Provide input on ways to improve the stability, security, efficiency, and scalability of the environment
Qualifications of the Linux System Administrator:
Active TS/SCI clearance requiredBachelor's degree from an accredited college in a related discipline and 5+ years of prior relevant experienceOne of the following certifications (preferred): Linux+, RHCE, RHCSA, LPIC, UNIXIn depth knowledge of Linux: RedHat, CentOS, Debian, etc.Familiarity with VMWare and virtualization concepts and/or Docker or Podman Containers.Shell, Perl, and/or Python scriptingSolid knowledge of protocols such as DNS, HTTP, LDAP, SMTP and SNMPAbility to use verbal and written communication skills to present information to a diverse population (technical and non-technical).Ability to work well as a member of a team and independently.Knowledge of existing virtual machine and cloud technologies including principles and methods of scalability to match workloads.Knowledge of multiple specialties such as operating systems, database platforms, storage technologies, including knowledge of administering operating systems like Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Microsoft Server.Demonstrated experience working on remote Systems via use of command line.Hands on experience integrating Linux servers in Active Directory (or using LDAP/Kerberos)Compensation of the Linux System Administrators:
