Job Summary
Add value to Pirates pro player valuation process by performing a review of all forms of information that ensures that work product is led by the model output but is practically minded and designed to support decision making.
Responsibilities:Familiarity with pro player model and its inputs and facilitate conversation for continued improvement of that model through interaction with player analysts and R&D department.Familiarity with scouting inputs relevant to pro player evaluation and facilitate conversation for continued awareness of appropriate weights for such inputs. Constant interaction with pro scouts and baseball operations employees as necessary to assist in the evolution of the scouting reports and other tools that are utilized to provide subjective information.Perform analysis of all forms of input, including scouting information, roster information, injury information and other forms of information that can add value to model outputs. Tease out hotspots as necessary and facilitate conversation.Perform primary rankings and tags for players in external organizations, as managed by Head of Player Evaluation.Provide recommendations to Head of Player Evaluation and Baseball Operations Leadership related to specific player markets (MLFA, MNFA, Trade, R5, Roster Considerations).Participate as directed in evaluation process related to internal Pirates players, including rankings and tags as needed.Qualifications:

Experience in a professional setting with tools such as Excel, SQL, and RExperience evaluating professional baseball players on video or in person
