POSITION SUMMARY:
The Delivery Driver - Class C is responsible for collecting, transporting, and safely delivering of company products to customer locations ensuring all orders are delivered on time, in the right condition and to the right place.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILIES:None.DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plan daily delivery route and strategy for the day. Select, sort and verify orders for deliveryPre-inspect orders for damage and quality before deliveryLoad truck according to delivery route; unload product to customer at customer site.Ensure that the load is in compliance with weight and other load limitsConduct a daily walk around safety inspection of the delivery vehicleOperate delivery van or larger box truck to make on-time deliveries to customer locations as per pre-determined route scheduleProvide excellent, professional and courteous services to customers during each stop.Complete and maintain paperwork as required by company policy, procedures and directions provided by supervisorResponsible to know and comply with all Company policies and procedures including safety and fleet safety policies and procedures. Responsible to ensure that the delivery vehicle is clean, safe, maintained and in good operating conditionOperate a forkliftMaintain records such as vehicle logs, records of cargo, or billing statements in accordance with regulationsPresent bills and receipts, collect payments for goods delivered, turn in receipts and money received from deliveries to office personnelPerforms other related duties as assignedREQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Ability to drive safelyAbility to use navigation tools such as onboard GPS, smartphone apps, and/or web-based or physical mapsAbility to plan delivery routesAbility to maintain basic logs and recordsAbility to carry out a series of instructions without constant supervisionTime management and ability to adjust schedule based on customer needsAttention to details Customer / Client FocusEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent requiredValid Class C drivers' license and clean driving record1 - 3 years of route delivery experienceShipping and receiving experience, loading and unloading product experienceCounter sales and cash handling experienceCustomer service experience requiredCurrent forklift certification and/or eligible to be forklift certifiedPHYSICAL REQUIEREMENTS:
Must be regularly required to walk, stand, carry materials, stoop, kneel, bend at the waist, reach overhead and climb stairsMust be able to sit and/or stand for long periods of timeMust be able to lift up to 45 pounds regularlyMust be able to load and unload packages with and without dollies in various types of weatherWORK ENVIRONMENT:
Must be able to work all weather conditions including extreme heat and coldThe noise level in the work environment is usually moderately loud when in the fieldTRAVEL:
Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected
