Position Summary
The
ADON / Infection Preventionist RN/LPN
will play a critical role in our facility's healthcare management. This position involves a combination of direct patient care, infection prevention, and nursing team leadership. The ADON / Infection Preventionist is responsible for ensuring high standards of resident care, maintaining rigorous infection control practices, and providing staff training and support. This role combines aspects of epidemiology, public health, and nurse leadership in long-term care.
Key Responsibilities
Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) ResponsibilitiesDirect and oversee daily operations of the Nursing Services Department, reporting to the Director of Nursing (DON).Conduct rounds to observe resident care, assist nurses, and ensure proper documentation of treatments, medications, and resident conditions.Communicate with physicians regarding resident care and meet with residents as needed.Support the Resident Assessment/Care Plan Coordinator in planning, scheduling, and revising the MDS, including the implementation of RAPs and triggers.Mentor and supervise the nursing team, fostering a supportive, professional environment.Infection Preventionist Responsibilities
Implement, monitor, and enhance the facility's infection control protocols to prevent, investigate, and report disease spread.Provide orientation and ongoing in-service training for staff on infection control practices, coordinating sessions with both internal and external speakers.Maintain a master schedule of all training activities and ensure annual in-services are completed as required.Document and maintain records of training activities, infection cases, and investigations.Qualifications
RN/LPN licensure:
Current, valid license to practice in Indiana.ADON Experience:
Minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience in nurse leadership within a long-term care setting, ideally as an ADON or DON.Infection Control Experience:
Background in infection prevention/control or experience in a related role is preferred.Resident-Centric Approach:
Compassion for and experience with geriatric populations.Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; additional certifications in infection prevention/control are a plus.Skills and Abilities
Leadership:
Strong supervisory and mentorship skills to manage and support the nursing team effectively.Attention to Detail:
High standards for documenting and observing resident care and infection control measures.Communication:
Strong communication skills for resident interactions, team leadership, and inter-departmental coordination.Physical Ability:
