Overview:Quinnipiac University's Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine invites applications for part-time faculty to serve as Problem-Based Learning (PBL) facilitators.
PBL is a major instructional component of the Year 2 curriculum involving student-directed application of scientific and therapeutic principles toward solving complex medical problems. Collaborative and professional participation in this activity are essential components of PBL.
PBL facilitators assist a small group of 7-8 second-year medical students who work through a clinical case each week. In addition to detailed facilitator guides for each case, facilitators attend weekly training sessions to become familiar with the content and ask any questions. A typical schedule for PBL facilitation is Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8:00 -10:00 am, including the weekly training session.
The Year 2 curriculum is an integrated organ system-based curriculum and PBL facilitators are needed for various content blocks (2 to 6 weeks) throughout the year:
Hematology-Oncology: September to OctoberHeart-Lung-Kidney: October & NovemberBreast-Genitourinary-Reproductive: DecemberGastrointestinal-Endocrine: JanuaryNeurology-Psychiatry: February to MarchMusculoskeletal & Integument: March

Responsibilities:
Participate in one facilitator training sessionAttend all PBL sessions at the regularly scheduled timeWork effectively with a small group of studentsEncourage active participation and self-directed learningProvide constructive feedback to studentsEvaluate student performance
Education Requirements:
A minimum of a Master's degree in a healthcare field or closely related field is requiredAn EdD, DO, MD, PA or PhD is preferred
Qualifications:
Prior teaching experience at the university level is preferredExperience with small group facilitationSkilled in facilitation, active listening, motivating learning, and critical reflectionDemonstrated ability to work with diverse populations and a commitment to diversity and inclusion
