Position Summary
As a top cancer care provider in Florida, Orlando Health Cancer Institute is a comprehensive, multidisciplinary
cancer program consisting of six treatment sites and more than 10 practice locations that serve the region's adult oncology needs. Specializing in more than 200 types of cancer, an expert team of medical professionals provides personalized care with the most state-of-the-art technologies, such as advanced radiation and proton therapies, and bone marrow transplant and cellular therapy. Position Summary
Manages a team of inter-interdisciplinary professional development practitioners within the clinical learning department. Integrates education principles, evidence based practice and technology using appropriate adult learning theories to support a culture of learning, patient safety and quality.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions• Participates in strategic planning to anticipate current and future professional development workforce and retention solutions.• Partner with operational managers to identify, develop, and implement educational programs to enhance the clinical/non clinical competence of Orlando Health team members.• Oversight of the inter-professional continuing education processes and programs for nurses, allied health, and physicians.• Collaboration with relevant departments and academic institutions for oversight of transition to practice programs contributing to ongoing professional role development.• Collaborate with hospital site education leadership to develop and implement education programs based on corporate quality and process improvement initiatives.• Coordinates ongoing development and implementation of simulation learning to support maintenance of the simulation program accreditation.• Develops, plans, and evaluates processes for corporate orientation and onboarding.• Evaluates and coordinates a variety of educational products and services within Orlando Health.• Influences the development of educational strategies that support the mission, vision and values of the organization.• Assesses, plans, organizes and directs department activities.• Establishes and implements department policies/procedures and guidelines.• Develops and manages department budget in conjunction with Director.• Promotes a satisfied, healthy work environment for the workforce by establishing a climate of growth, challenge and development of team members.• Integrates education technology using appropriate adult learning theories and project management principles.• Evaluates department performance and utilizes change management principles as needed to implement process and quality improvement.• Models effective critical thinking skills.• Manages various human resources functions including hiring, work assignments, coaching plans, and performance counseling.• Maintainsreasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.• Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Other Related Functions• Demonstrates knowledge of legal issues, patient rights, and compliance with the standards of regulatory and accrediting agencies.• Mentors the professional development of team members.• Maintains contacts with other organizations and associations for the purpose of keeping current in new developments in theeducation field.
Qualifications
Education/Training
Graduate degree in nursing, education, health services administration, or health related field required. Bachelor of Science in nursing or bachelor degree in healthcare related field and two (2) years of directly related work experience may substitute for the Graduate degree (in addition to the requirements listed in the Experience section).
Licensure/Certification
Current licensure in the State of Florida required. National specialty certification in area of practice.
Experience
Three (3) years of leadership experience required. Two (2) years education experience required. One (1) year healthcare experience required.
