This Position is responsible for acquiring all necessary samples for testing; performing analytical requirements in the Quality Assurance laboratory and supporting operations personnel in maintaining calibration and effective performance of manufacturing equipment to insure that all products meet quality specifications. This position will be scheduled for a 12 hour day shift.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the information below.
Business needs may dictate the assignment of other duties as needed.Understanding and supporting the JMS Decatur Safety Program policies and performing work-related activities in a save mannerProper monitoring, documentation and sample collection to meet all Quality Checks done in the area.Issue Quality Holds for Non-Conforming product.Prepare samples, standards, and solutions accurately.Maintain the following Laboratory equipment: GC, HPLC, NIR, pH meter, protein analyzer, ovens, scales, grinders, blenders, 2-way radios.Inspecting and performing testing on incoming ingredients and packaging supplies to assure compliance to specificationsPerforming laboratory analysis as scheduled during manufacturing of products to assure compliance to specificationsCalibrating and standardizing Quality Assurance equipment both in the lab and in-process equipmentPerforming data-entry and computer file maintenance on laboratory analysisCleaning equipmentMust have basic computer skillsMust be capable of comprehending and applying principles of basic food scienceMust have basic math skills and troubleshooting abilitiesMust have communication skills for interaction with all production departments at all levelsPerform other duties as assignedQualifications
Be able to multi-task-complete multiple samples or tasks at one time, in a very fast paced environment.Be able to use, understand and maintain the following laboratory equipment: GC, HPLC, NIR, pH meter, protein analyzer, ovens, scales, grinders, blenders, & 2-way radio.Be able to keep the area clean and organized at all times.Education and/or Experience
High-school degree or equivalent is required.A degree in Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, Animal Science, Food Science or the equivalent work experience is preferred.
