American Express National Bank (AENB) is American Express’ chartered national bank. Headquartered in Utah, AENB is the single largest entity within American Express’ business, currently representing more than 50 percent of the company’s Card Member Spending, nearly 90 percent of its lending, and more than 60 percent its of revenues. American Express National Bank provides American Express’ customers with access to consistent payments, financing, and savings products in three ways, including:

Colleagues across American Express’ key business units (known as “affiliates”) use their experience and skills to support AENB in executing on its strategy. In addition, many of American Express’ executives also serve as officers of AENB. AENB is governed by its own Board of Directors. It is regulated, supervised, and examined by several regulatory agencies, including the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) for wide-ranging safety and soundness and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) for adherence to federal consumer financial laws. All AENB colleagues, officers, and affiliates have a long-standing dedication to driving strong and standardized risk management practices in accordance with the OCC’s Heightened Standards guidelines. The Corporate Functions Control Management team within AENB will serve as the business unit Control Management function for several corporate groups including Corporate Affairs & Communications (CA&C); Colleague Experience Group (CEG), General Counsel’s Organization (GCO); Global Risk & Compliance (GRC); Enterprise Strategy (ES); and American Express National Bank Headquarters (AENB HQ).

The objective of the Corporate Functions Control Management Risk ID, Assessment, and Testing team is to identify, assess, mitigate, and report on Operational Risk within BU processes for AENB to ensure adherence to regulatory standards, Amex policy and improve the BU's resilience through managing a clear methodology of inherent and residual risk.

The Corporate Functions Control Management team is looking for an Analyst of Risk ID, Assessment, and Testing focused on ensuring control management is embedded in the day-to-day operations of our organization. It will involve extensive collaboration with multiple partners across numerous business units, functional areas, and geographies.

The Analyst, Corporate Functions Control Management Risk ID, Assessment and Testing, will primarily be responsible for leading risk identification, assessment activities, developing and performing a comprehensive testing strategy to ensure effective and compliance operations for the corporate functions.

In addition, the Analyst will:

Assist in additional identification specific risks throughout business processes and systems (along with business process owners)

Support facilitation to BUs in their risk assessments performance (e.g., Process Self Risk Assessments (PRSAs)) in addition to further assessments and testing / QA programs to ensure regulatory and internal standards are met (e.g., periodic PRSA reviews and update assessment criteria to align with regulatory updates)

Support control monitoring (supplemental to BU process owners testing) and compile key operational risk trends, activities, and events

Proactively help identify certain areas of high-risk for intervention (e.g., automated alerts generated for high-risk areas signal need for intervention and focus), including conducting independent quality assurance and vertical process testing

Minimum Qualifications

1-2 Years experience in operational risk management (e.g., within Risk and/or Internal Audit function) Understanding of critical operational risk management lifecycle activities

Project management, communication, and interpersonal skills

Experience in process governance, with an understanding of processes that align with policies, regulatory frameworks, and/or operational standards

Analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to analyze data, identify trends, and evaluate risk scenarios effectively

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Risk Management, or related field; advanced degrees (e.g., MBA, MSc) or certifications are advantageous.

Experience in at least one of the following:

Supporting identification of operational risks throughout business processes and systems

Facilitating risk assessment performance in addition to further assessments and testing programs to ensure regulatory and internal standards are met

Supporting independent control monitoring, including identification of control improvements

Supporting the identification of areas of risk for intervention, including conducting independent quality assurance and process testing

Supporting thematic risk reporting to provide actionable insights on risk levels, emerging trends and root causes

Qualifications

Salary Range: $55,000.00 to $105,000.00 annually bonus benefits
