Corporate Controller 9894Job Summary:
Responsible for overseeing the financial reporting and accounting functions of the organization. This role will focus on the management of balance sheet accounts, lease accounting, and the calculation and reporting of depreciation and amortization, including capital assets. The Controller will ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations, lead accounting initiatives, work collaboratively with external auditors during private company audits, and provide strategic financial insights to support business objectives.
Responsibilities:Balance Sheet Management:
Oversee the preparation and analysis of balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP and internal policies.Manage monthly reconciliation processes for all balance sheet accounts.Identify and implement improvements in the management of balance sheet items.Lease Accounting:
Lead the implementation and management of lease accounting standards (e.g., ASC 842).Ensure accurate accounting for all leases, including the recognition, measurement, and presentation in financial statements.Develop policies and training for lease accounting processes, including operating and finance leases.Depreciation and Amortization:
Manage and oversee the accounting for capital assets and intangible assets.Ensure accurate calculation and reporting of depreciation and amortization expenses associated with capital assets.Maintain asset registers and oversee the periodic review of asset valuations to ensure financial accuracy.Financial Reporting:
Prepare and present financial reports related to balance sheet items, lease accounting, and asset depreciation to executive management and other stakeholders.Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.Compliance and Internal Controls:
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and accounting principles.Develop and enforce accounting policies and procedures to strengthen internal controls.Collaboration with Auditors:
Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors during the annual private company audit.Facilitate the audit process, including preparing required documentation and addressing auditor requests in a timely manner.Assist in the resolution of any audit issues and incorporate findings into accounting practices.Team Leadership:
Manage and mentor the accounting team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business initiatives and resolve financial issues.Bank Funding Oversight:
Oversee the bank funding process, ensuring that funding strategies align with organizational goals.Manage the budgeting of costs per stand and compare budgeted costs to actual expenditures, analyzing variances and providing insights for improvement.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, both public accounting and industry experience preferred.Expertise in lease accounting and capital asset management.Familiarity with audit processes and working with external auditors.Must be willing to travel about 15%-20%
