TravelThis position is a 13-week contract, 32 hours a week, 8 hour Primarily day shift, hours do vary according to the OR schedule and there will be on-call hours. Holidays are normally off unless you are on-call. Must have a current WA license and BLS.

We are located close to the PNW beaches and the Olympic National Forrest.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) provides necessary support to the OR, PACU and Day Surgery areas. He/she keeps assigned areas clean, sanitary, aseptic and attractive by following department cleaning procedures. The CST assists the staff with preparation of equipment and supplies needed for procedures. He/she may be asked to assist with clerical or other non-nursing administrative duties related to the department. The CST assumes other duties as assigned by the Director or designee.

ACCOUNTABILITY

Accountable to:

Director of Surgical Services, or in the absence of the Director, is responsible to the Surgery Charge RN.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

1.

Current certification by the Association of Surgical Technologists required

2.

Minimum one year hospital surgical background preferred

3.

High School graduate or equivalent (GED)

4.

Successful completion of Surgical Technologist Course or equivalent experience

5.

Possess a basic and thorough knowledge of the functions and philosophies of the OR Department

6.

Demonstrate knowledge of asepsis and sterile techniques

7.

Ability to work swiftly and skillfully under stressful circumstances

8.

Ability to work with a myriad of physicians

9.

Demonstrate a working knowledge of surgical instruments and equipment

10.

Ability to lift forty (40) pounds from floor to waist, and from chair to bed level.

11.

Ability to pull fifty (50) pounds from stretcher to bed

12.

Ability to push fifty (50) pound stretcher 300 feet

13.

Ability to lift five (5) pounds overhead
