About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Database Engineer to join the Database & Middleware Engineering (DME) team supporting the EnterpriseDB PostgreSQL platform.

In this role, you will:

Lead complex or critical database management initiatives that typically involve multiple disciplines and business groups, including database architecture, design, integration and data modeling

Provide the highest technical expertise for the planning, research, design implementation, maintenance, and control of server class databases

Review and analyze complex database technologies that require in depth evaluation of multiple factors including intangibles or unprecedented factors

Design and certify next generation database technologies

Assist in database installations, including troubleshooting and problem resolution

Recommend improvements to web application processing issues and design

Consult with multiple client groups to provide strategic solutions, influencing long range internal and enterprise level database architecture and management strategies

Provide technical leadership and recommendation into the future direction of database technology

Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals

Required Qualifications:

5+ years of Database Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications:

5+ years building and supporting small to large PostgreSQL database environments in a regulated banking or financial industry

Experience automating database processes

Strong scripting skills in Bash, Ansible and Python

Experience with high availability and clustering technologies (e.g., WAL replication, streaming replication, Patroni, Enterprise Failover Manager)

Experience with backup / recovery using Barman and pg_basebackup

Experience with monitoring tools like Postgres Enterprise Manager (PEM), Prometheus, and Grafana

Experience with maintenance of PostgreSQL including resource utilization and overall performance analysis

Experience leading complex database projects such as data center migration or automation initiatives

Experience building databases on hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) such as Nutanix

Experience working within the product model with understanding of Agile methodologies using Jira

Strong technical documentation skills

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

Job Expectations:

This position must be filled from one of the posted locations. Requires working in a hybrid environment

Pay Range

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, experience, or work location. The range listed is just one component of the compensation package offered to candidates.

$111,100.00 - $217,200.00
