Bloom Academy Charter School exists to provide a high quality, rigorous, and joyful educational experience to students in grades kindergarten to fifth grade. We are a new and independent school seeking to add deeply mission aligned, smart, hardworking, and emotionally intelligent people to our founding staff. We opened August 2019 with a cohort of kindergarten and first graders, and have added a grade level each year culminating with kindergarten through fifth grade for the 2023-2024 school year.

Bloom Academy Managing Director of Curriculum and Instruction

Driven by our mission to ensure every child succeeds, the Managing Director of Curriculum and Instruction will be responsible for ensuring that high quality, rigorous instruction and a joyful classroom environment is provided to all students. We believe that teachers are key levers in producing student achievement. Therefore, Bloom Academy provides a working environment that intentionally supports and appreciates this incredibly demanding and important work through daily and weekly coaching and professional development. The Managing Director of Curriculum and Instruction will be responsible for creating and managing the ongoing support for teaching and learning at Bloom Academy. The Managing Director of Curriculum and Instruction will have the following key responsibilities:

Collaborate with the Head of School on codifying a clear academic vision for each core content area rooted in our mission and vision for scholars.

Lead the development and expert execution of K-5 reading, writing, and math core curriculum, intervention, and assessment platforms used at Bloom Academy including but not limited to Amplify, Eureka, NWEA MAP, and iReady

Create high-quality scope and sequences across all subjects and grade levels.

Develop and oversee the Bloom Academy Gifted and Talented Program.

Work with the Special Education team to implement strong intervention services and RTI practices.

Develop a lesson and unit plan schedule for teachers that includes providing effective feedback.

Develop and execute a teacher observation and feedback plan.

Observe and coach teachers in order to develop their mastery of craft and content in pursuit of our ambitious mission.

Create a vision for assessment and manage the selection and creation of formative and summative assessments.

Work with the Head of School to set annual academic goals and benchmarks – and be relentless about meeting our goals for children.

Develop a student data analysis protocol based on best practices and lead schoolwide data days.

Plan and develop the scope and sequence for the Bloom Academy professional learning calendar including our rigorous three-week Summer Training Camp for new team members.

Create a hiring schedule and assist in overseeing hiring and onboarding new team members.

Oversee and ensure the integrity of programs for all special populations.

Engage in coaching sessions to develop and grow practice.

Provide consistent and clear high academic and behavioral expectations.

Complete synchronous and asynchronous trainings as required by the TCLAS grant

Complete monthly teacher observations, submits required implementation surveys and other meetings as required by the TCLAS grant

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required; Masters preferred.

Experience hiring and supervising employees.

Deep alignment with the school's mission and core values.

A staunch belief that all students regardless of race or socio-economic status can achieve at high levels and be positive contributors to their communities.

A successful background check in compliance with state law.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with all school stakeholders.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.

Evidence of self-motivation, strong organizational and time management skills.

Anticipated start date is November 2024.

A current teacher and or principal certification in the state of Texas.

Strong leadership qualities.

A growth mindset and high emotional intelligence.

A social justice-oriented philosophy as it relates to the opportunity gap and educational advancement of disenfranchised communities.

Experience with equity or cultural competency work and or professional development.
