MANAGER IT RISK STRATEGY
WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?
The Risk Strategy Manager will serve as trusted advisor, confidential thought partner, and act as sounding board to the Executive, Head of Technology Risk Manager (HTRM). The function will be integral in developing IT Risk Manager's function strategy e.g. identification and development of workstreams in partnership with the Head of IT Risk Manager. The role will drive and manage all FLoD IT Risk routines to ensure appropriate oversight, monitoring and escalation to senior leadership / CIO as needed for efficient risk management. In addition, this function manages and develops risk reporting and metrics to support all FLoD IT Risk routines, including regulatory oversight, issues management, risk advisory updates, escalations of past due / coming due items. The individual will manage a team of risk professionals and serve as an extension of the Head of Technology Risk Manager, command meetings or discussions, enables collaboration and drives progress forward. The function will help teams interpret, understand, and carry out the Technology & Innovations Risk Management vision and strategic plans. The function will act as proxy and information funnel, filter, and facilitator for the Technology & Innovations Risk Management function. The function will address issues/respond to as many inquiries as possible prior to reaching the Head of Technology Risk Manager. He/she represents the HRTM's point of view, helps to making decisions, as needed, in HTRM's absence.
What you will do
Manages and functions as a SME, in conjunction with the Head of Technology Risk Manager (HTRM), develop and carryout functional strategies
Articulate the strategies across the organization and varied audiences and be able to provide status updates on progress and any impediments they arise
Be naturally curious, ask questions and raise concerns as needed, find the importance and satisfaction in "doing" the execution
Use organizational skills to manage a portfolio of projects for the HTRM and help to drive to completion
Helps the HTRM prioritize projects, business as usual tasks and clearly articulates the focus on high priority projects/initiatives
Provide analysis, recommendations, and options regarding decisions to be made or problems to be solved
Attends and facilitates complex, cross-developmental discussions to ensure valuable decisions are made and carried out
Manages or helps manage the executive's communications, brand, and relationship in the organization
Develop and communicate key messages to Senior Managers/Leaders and Regulators (Office of Comptroller of the Currency (OCC); Federal Reserve Board (FRB etc.)
Use a combination of soft skills, via servant leadership approach, be tactful and use discretion with confidential information to get to accomplishments
Possess a learning orientation, be able to balance organizational and flexibility skills, be a coach to staff and peers as needed
Be able to connect dots to drive activities to ensure deliverables are met by the teams within the respective function(s)
Recruit, develop and retain key talent, ensuring that the resources dedicated to risk management are effective in carrying out the required function
Must-Have *
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
10 plus years of experience working at a major financial institution on audit and/or management initiatives programs, including management responsibilities
8 plus years of experience in IT risk and control
5 plus years of related supervisory experience
Skills and Knowledge
Strong knowledge of business banking, real estate banking, capital markets, lending, payment operations etc.
Deep understanding of risk management, including experience executing risk assessments, testing, and evaluating processes and controls
Strong knowledge of critical domestic and internal banking regulations and experience with enforcement agencies' oversight activities (regulatory exams, consent orders etc.) within globally systemically important financial institutions' technology environments
Ability to excel at developing and communicating key messages to senior managers and regulators (Office of Comptroller of the Currency (OCC); Federal Reserve Board (FRB etc.)
Deep Understanding of regulatory requirements and/or industry standards for exam preparation
Strong knowledge and experience with U.S. regulatory, compliance, and governance and experiencing interacting with the regulators
Strong leadership, people management, and influencing skills; proven strengths in relationship development and leading through influence across multiple stakeholders
Compensation
Starting base salary: $122,535 - $208,715 per year. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. This job is eligible for bonus and/or commissions.
