YesLocals accepted: YesRTO Restrictions: 1 week/7 days max. if 1 full week, must add a week to make up RTOGuaranteed Hours: 36 hours - open to 48 hours with no OT until after 48 hoursSpecial Requirements:- Prefer Pediatrics but open to experienced therapists from other disciplines if qualified.

The Respiratory Therapist provides respiratory and pulmonarytherapy, management, and rehabilitation under the direction of a doctor. The Respiratory Therapist treats conditionsthat affect the pulmonary system and help patients who are having troublebreathing from infants to the elderly in a variety of health caresettings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Adheres to established policies and procedures of thefacilityPerforms focused interviews to identify specific patientneedsAssess signs and symptoms indicating physiologic andpsychosocial changes in the patient's conditionPlans for outcomes of care for those patients assignedAssists with diagnosing lung or breathing disordersEvaluates patients and performs tests and studies whenindicatedDetermines appropriate therapy and treatment options incollaboration with physiciansAnalyzes blood and sputum in the lab when applicableManages respiratory/pulmonary equipment and devicesEducates patients and families about lung diseases andbreathing disordersPerforms interventions according to identified priorities,plan of care, and the hospital policies and patient care outcome standard.Adheres to emergency, safety and infection controlprocedures of the facilityPromotes and participates in activities to facilitate goodinterpersonal communicationsReports changes in the patient's respiratory status to theDirector/Supervisor of Respiratory Care Services, the nurse primarilyresponsible for the patient, and the physician, as needed, and prior to leavingthe facilityOther duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

Current Respiratory Therapist Certification or Registrationfor the state in which he/she practicesOne year of respiratory therapy clinical experiencepreferredComplies with all relevant professional standards ofpracticeParticipation and completion of Amergis' Competency programwhen applicableCurrent CPR if applicableTB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicableCurrent Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation)Must meet all federal, state and local requirementsSuccessful completion of new hire training as applicable tojob siteUnderstand patient confidentiality and HIPAArequirementsAbility to effectively elicit/provide information to andfrom appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors,co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in theEnglish language is requiredComputer proficiency requiredMust be at least 18 years of age Compliance & EthicsExpectations
