About the Role
The Estimator is responsible for preparing and presenting general and/or discipline specific (civil, electrical, construction distributable, or services) estimates for our Clean Energy business lines including Solar, Wind and Battery Storage. This role includes responsibility for all areas of RFP requirements, proposal strategies and risk management.
Responsibilities
Perform conceptual estimates for renewable energy projects from start to finish, including site visits, scope determination, communication with clients and JMS leadership and data entry into construction estimate softwareCreate an achievable estimate plan, including budget, and ensuring quality and integrityCombine estimate elements and prepare internal review documents and bid forms for the proposalCoordinate proposal strategies with Proposal Management and joint venture partners, as appropriateCompile documentation to support estimate basis and assumptionsEvaluate the design or Request for Proposal (RFP) scope criteria and quantities for accuracy, plausibility and collaborate with the project team to establish additional estimating basis when information is lackingAssist in supply chain bid evaluation, considering cost and schedule criteria, engaging in vendor discussions as neededRepresent JMS to clients, engineers and vendors with the highest standards of professionalism and ethical behaviorCalculate non-manual, distributable or contractor’s indirect cost estimates, miscellaneous construction tools and equipment, non-manual staffing, startup services, payroll taxes and insurance, operations and other field expensesPresent the estimate management review package effectively to the estimating team, department and business line managementGuide the development of proposal cash flow models and working capital analysisConduct and assess escalation calculationsUnderstand and incorporate commercial terms and conditions into estimatesIdentify risk factors, assign risk levels to project segments and determine risk mitigation strategiesAnalyze productivity and estimate probable construction costs based on craft crew productivityTravel to jobsites as needed
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or a related field preferred. Experience in the management and coordination of proposal efforts and/or project forecasts. Experience in renewable energy construction preferred.
Required Skills
Strong client facing and internal communications and interpersonal skills.Familiarity with Estimating Software such as HeavyBid or AccuBid strongly preferred.Experience with civil/electrical or construction indirect estimate developExperience with Lump Sum Design EstimatesTechnical and practical understanding of engineering, procurement and construction methods and techniquesAbility to work effectively with and provide leadership to a diverse team.
