About Boston ScoresBoston Scores is one of the largest afterschool programs in Boston, providing free soccer, poetry and service learning programs to over 1,500 students in grades K-12 each year. Through our holistic program model, Boston Scores supports youth in developing essential life skills that help to build strong individuals and strong communities.
Boston Scores is one of 13 affiliates of the America SCORES network, a legacy program of the 1994 World Cup. In 2024, Boston Scores celebrated our 25th anniversary and opened a new headquarters and state-of-the-art education and recreation complex in East Boston. About This RoleReporting to the Director of Development & Communications, the Senior Development Officer is an integral part of our 5-person Development team. The Senior Development Officer supports fundraising activities by managing a portfolio of corporate and individual donors, including executing on our fundraising strategy, donor and partner prospecting, long-range planning, donor relations and data management.
Job ResponsibilitiesManage a fundraising portfolio of corporate partners, event sponsors and individual donorsConduct continual prospect research and relationship cultivationSecure sponsorship goals for Celebration, Inspired Art and Scores Cup and assist with overall organizational sponsorship strategy and outreachActively participate in event committee meetings, which include community volunteers and members of the Boston Scores Board of DirectorsSupport planning and execution of events with a focus on the event experience for donorsEngage with current donors and partners while also actively expanding opportunities for engagementMaintain database records for assigned fundraising portfolio and other relevant constituents in order to produce accurate reports on a regular basisActively participate in Development Team meetings as well as relevant organizational and national network meetingsOther duties as assigned by the Director of Development & Communications
Skills and Qualifications5-8 years of nonprofit fundraising experience with a successful track recordStrong interpersonal and relationship building skillsExperience with CRM or donor database systemsAbility to meet deadlines and track progress toward goalsFlexible and adaptable stylePassion for the mission of Boston Scores (see https://www.bostonscores.org/about-us/)Strong organizational skills and attention to detailExcellent written and oral communication skills
Compensation and EnvironmentCompetitive salary, based on experience ($75,000-85,5000)Generous benefits & paid time off package including: 100% employer sponsored health, dental, vision, life insurance and long-term disability insurance; 401K plan with employer match (eligible after 1 year); 15 day of paid time off annually (incrementally increases to 30 days PTO with continued tenure); 10 paid federal holidays; approximately 1.5 weeks leave during organization-wide winter breakInclusive and supportive workplace culture of 15 full-time staff and several part-time team membersCurrently operating in a hybrid work environment with all staff required to work in the office on Mondays and Wednesdays plus other days as required by the responsibilities of their role
