A leading public finance law firm is seeking a
Transactional Legal Assistant
to provide administrative and legal support for Partners & attorneys. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and skilled in managing legal documents and client communications. Under general supervision, this role will drive operational efficiency by handling document preparation, file management, and deadline tracking while maintaining confidentiality and fostering positive interactions with clients and staff.

Responsibilities:Draft and type correspondence, memoranda, and other legal documents with great attention to detail.Establish and maintain calendar and deadline reminder systems for client filings; utilize firm calendar and prioritize tasks.Open new files and maintain client and general files. Conduct periodic review for possible storage of older files on-site; prepare files to be closed.Greet clients and visitors, if necessary; maintain good public relations with clients; observe confidentiality of attorney-client relationships.Process bills; proof billing sheets; review, edit and send bills.Work closely and cooperatively with administrative support staff (word processing, receptionists, accounting personnel, etc.).Perform other secretary and administrative duties as requested.Perform overload typing, filing, photocopying, or reception relief as time permits and as requested by other attorneys or staff.Foster a sense of community and cooperation in the workplace; be willing to assist others in completing their tasks; treat others with courtesy and respect at all times; demonstrate a commitment to a friendly work environment.Perform non-complex arithmetic calculations when verifying calculations on forms and documents; maintain records and filing systemsAnswer phones and transfer calls as needed.Sort incoming mail as needed. Ensure that outgoing mail is timely delivered. If necessary, route mail to specific delivery service and follow up on timely delivery.
Requirements:3-5+ years of transactional legal assistant/paralegal experienceAbility to read and write in order to proof and perform editing of routine law office correspondence and legal matters (e.g., punctuation, grammar, spelling)Ability to prepare, proof and review legal documents, correspondence, and reportsAbility to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under time constraintsInterpersonal skills necessary to communicate and follow instructions effectively from a diverse group of clients, attorneys and staff and provide information with courtesy and tactAbility to maintain professional demeanor when essential duties require a high level of mental effort and strain (e.g., when timely answering a high volume of urgent requests for information and performing other essential duties)Ability to be in person as needed during normal working hours Monday through Friday (9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.)Ability to occasionally work more than 40 hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position, when needed
