About Us:For over 40 years, The FRICKS Company has specialized in the design, construction and finishing of the most durable concrete floor surfaces in the world - extending the life of the floor surface by up to 10 times that of conventional concrete. Our projects range nationwide from distribution, food processing and cold storage facilities.
Purpose:The function of this position is to manage the daily laboratory operation in our home office. This includes performing quality control testing, mix designs, and report the results related to concrete compressive and flexural strength. This position will ensure that proper testing procedures are followed, reported, and maintained.
This position will involve very close interaction with a Project Managers, Project Coordinator, and ownership. Ensures that company vision, core values, goals, purpose, and culture are being driven, exemplified, shared, and taught with consistency.
Concrete or Ready Mix - Batch plant managers and quality control managers are strongly encouraged to apply
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Coordinate testing schedule with Project Managers, Project Coordinators and ownershipPartner with internal stakeholders to optimize workflowAnalyze materials and make recommendationsPerform regular testing and record dataIdentify, recommend, and assist with process/equipment improvements for set-ups and test methodsCapable of executing laboratory-based investigations and development projectsMaintain and operate physical and analytical testing equipmentPromptly report any mechanical or calibration problems with equipmentEnsure proper inventory management for admixtures and raw materialsAbility to work in a fast-paced environmentEnsure the lab remains clean, organized, and safeOther duties as assigned
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Experience working with cement, mortar, or concrete.Knowledge of laboratory techniques, field techniques and test methods on cement and concrete (i.e., ASTM, AASHTO, ACI)Understanding of cement and concrete ASTMs, AASHTOs, and /or other similar test standardsSkilled with cement and concrete testing equipment and toolsKnowledge with analytical equipmentSelf-MotivatedDetail OrientedAble to work in a fast-paced environment.Ability to remain calm in difficult situations.Must have reliable transportation.
Education and Experience:High school diploma or equivalentAssociates Degree or ACI certification, preferred.Prior knowledge and ability to acquire testing certifications sponsored by Fricks.Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite, (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Physical Requirements:Prolonged standing and walkingAbility to crouch, stoop, kneel, squat and bend for long periods of time.Able to lift 50 pounds at a time.Requires full range of body movement.OvertimeAble to work in Shop/Warehouse environment, indoor/outdoor, and occasional inclement weather conditions.
