Gallopade International, Inc. is seeking a Writer/Editor to join our rapidly growing company as part of our Product Development team. A key role in Product Development, the Writer/Editor is responsible for developing and editing print and digital educational resources for grades K-8. As a Writer/Editor at Gallopade, you have the unique opportunity to create resources that equip teachers to teach in an engaging and effective way. Description:
The top responsibility of the Writer/Editor is to create and maintain new and existing print and digital products, features, enhancements, updates, and corrections. The Writer/Editor will write and edit materials for grades K-8. They will construct student books (digital and print textbooks) based on the state standards and build supplementary materials that help reinforce and enhance students' learning. This includes tests, quizzes, activities, projects, worksheets, additional reading, and more. Foundational characteristics essential to meeting customer expectations include content accuracy, ease of use (for teachers and students), effectiveness (at helping achieve learning goals), and detailed alignment to state learning standards (for curriculum products).
Responsibilities:
Write and edit print and digital student books and supplementary materialsEnsure all products align completely with state and grade standardsCollaborate with managers, editors, curriculum specialists, trainers, and designers to create and deliver projects and to continuously improve themSeek new ways to improve the teacher and student experience through innovation and creativity, best practices in communication, and state-of-the-art mediaManage concurrent projects within a fast-paced environmentEvaluate, train, collaborate with—and manage—freelance art, writing, and proofreading talent hired by Gallopade on a project basis
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in journalism or English5+ years of experience as a Writer/EditorExpert at writing, proofreading, and editing; a great storytellerDemonstrated ability to conduct and analyze research and then tailor information for different audiences or grade levelsConceptual creativity and problem-solving skills; strong attention to detail; excellent organization skillsExperience with content management systemsAbility to give and receive constructive feedbackStrong interpersonal and time management skillsFamiliarity with both the Chicago Manual of Style and AP StyleExperience in any of the following areas is a plus: publishing, education, instructional design, K-12 curriculum resources, eLearning
