Their role is often associated with configuring, customizing, and maintaining "mediation" software, which is responsible for collecting, processing, and converting data from different sources into a standardized format for billing, analysis, and other operational uses.Key Responsibilities of Convergent Mediation Developers:Data Collection and Processing: Developing and configuring software to collect data from various network sources, including call data records (CDRs), usage logs, and events from telecom systems.Data Transformation and Normalization: Converting collected data into a standardized format, making it compatible for downstream systems like billing and analytics.Rule-Based Processing: Implementing business rules to filter, correlate, and enrich data as per company policies or regulatory requirements.Integration with Billing Systems: Ensuring the mediation platform integrates smoothly with billing systems, providing accurate data for customer invoicing.Performance Optimization: Monitoring and optimizing data flows to handle large volumes of data in real-time or near real-time.Troubleshooting and Maintenance: Identifying and resolving issues within the mediation platform, including debugging software, fixing errors, and performing routine maintenance.Security and Compliance: Ensuring data handling complies with regulatory and company security policies.Skills Required:Programming Languages: Proficiency in languages like Java, C++, or Python.Database Management: Strong skills in SQL and NoSQL databases.Mediation Software: Knowledge of mediation platforms such as IBM Tivoli Netcool, Comptel, or Amdocs Mediation.Telecom and Networking Knowledge: Understanding of telecom protocols, CDRs, and network management.Data Processing and ETL: Familiarity with Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes for handling large datasets.Problem Solving: Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
