Our client, a laser manufacturing company, is currently seeking a skilled and innovative Mechanical Systems Engineer to join their team.
Full time, temp-hire opportunity! The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in mechanical engineering principles and demonstrate proficiency in project scheduling, fabrication, and drafting. This role requires assisting in the development of custom machinery for internal and external customers by designing, specifying, sourcing, assembling and testing mechanical components for tooling, guarding structural, and control components.
ResponsibilitiesDesign weld tooling to quickly and accurately locate parts to be welded into position.Specify motion control hardware to manipulate laser welding optics, workpiece and tooling to execute necessary welding operationsDesign support systems to maintain relative positionsDesign enclosures and safety systems to contain the process and protect the operator from laser beam and other hazards.Specify purchased components (vendors and part numbers) with consideration to price, availability and function.Assemble mechanical static and dynamic componentsWork with electrical and software engineers to help debug interactions between mechanical, electrical and software systems.Travel to customers facilities to help with installation of systems and maintenance.Detail components and assemblies for fabrication and assembly.Maintain complete and accurate Bills of Materials for relevant systems.Report on progress management.
QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is required.Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in fabrication and assembly processes.Proficiency with Solidworks (3D Modeling, Drawings, PDM, Simulation preferred)Solidworks Electrical is a plus.CAM software is a plus.Machine shop tools (Knee Mill, engine lathe, surface grinder, belt grinder, etc)Manual, Electrical and Pneumatic hand tools (Die Grinder, drill, files, screwdrivers, etc)Precision measurement tools (calipers, micrometer, height stand, dial indicator, etc)Electrical fabrication equipment (soldering iron, crimping tools, panel fabrication, etc)
